00:01 Hello everyone! Welcome to this tutorial on Items & Inventory in FrontAccounting.
00:07 In this tutorial, we will learn to set:
00:10 Units of Measure, Items, Item Category and Sales Pricing.
00:19 To record this tutorial, I am using:

Ubuntu Linux OS version 14.04, FrontAccounting version 2.3.25

00:30 To practice this tutorial, you should have Knowledge of Higher Secondary commerce or

knowledge of accounting.

00:38 Before we start, let us understand the meaning of Items.
00:41 Items are the things which you can buy or sell in the business.
00:47 We have to keep a record that lists key information about an inventory item.
00:53 Now, let us see the meaning of inventory.
00:57 It is a complete listing of:
00:59 Stock in hand, work in progress, raw materials and finished goods in hand.
01:08 Let us start by opening the Frontaccounting interface.
01:12 Click on the browser.
01:14 Type: localhost/account and press Enter.
01:19 The login page appears.
01:21 Here, type the username as admin and the password.
01:25 Click on Login button.
01:28 Frontaccounting window opens.
01:31 Click on the Items and Inventory tab.
01:34 The page opens and we can see various panels.
01:39 Under Transaction panel, we can see the options:
01:42 Inventory Location Transfers and Inventory Adjustments.
01:47 Inquiries and Reports panel is used for making reports and inquiries.
01:52 Here, we have the options:
01:54 Inventory Item Movements, Inventory Item Status and Inventory Reports.
02:01 Maintenance panel is used for setup of Items and Inventory details.
02:06 To do the setup, we have to make use of the following options:
02:10 Items, Units of Measure and Item Categories.
02:17 Pricing and Costs panel is used for selecting the pricing level of items or inventory.
02:23 For this, we have to use the option Sales Pricing.
02:27 Let us see how to set Units of Measure.
02:31 Units of Measure option has to be specified for each Item.
02:36 Here, we can see the chart which represents the Units of Measure.
02:41 The chart shows:
02:42 Physical quantity measured, Base unit and SI abbreviation.
02:49 We can see the Base unit of a substance is mole and the SI unit abbreviation is mol.
02:58 Likewise, base unit of scale is meter and the abbreviation is m.
03:05 Now, switch back to the Frontaccounting interface.
03:09 Click on Units of Measure option.
03:13 Here, we are prompted to fill in all the necessary information pertaining to the Units of Measure.
03:20 I have filled these details here. Please fill the details likewise.
03:25 Click on Add new button to add this unit.
03:29 The pop up message shows that we have successfully added a new unit.
03:34 We can also see the table with the updated entry.
03:38 Click on the Back option to return back to the Frontaccounting interface.
03:44 Let us now set the Items.
03:47 Click on the Items under Maintenance panel.
03:51 You may see the default Items in the list.
03:55 We can also create a new Item as required.
04:00 I will demonstrate.
04:02 Here, we are prompted to fill in all the necessary information pertaining to the items.
04:09 I have filled these details here. Please fill the details likewise.
04:14 Make sure that you give the unique code for each item you fill.
04:19 Scroll down.
04:22 And then click on the Insert New Item button.
04:26 The pop-up message shows that we have successfully added a new item.
04:31 Click on the dropdown box, we can see the new item is added.
04:36 Scroll down.
04:39 And click on the Back option to return back to the Frontaccounting interface.
04:45 Let us now set the Item Categories to which item belongs.
04:50 Click on it.
04:52 Scroll down to see the details.
04:55 We have to create our own Item category which defines:
04:59 Item tax type, Item Type and Units of Measure.
05:03 Here, we are prompted to fill in all the necessary information pertaining to the Item Category.
05:10 I have filled these details here for-
05:12 Category Name, Item Tax Type, Item Type and Units of Measure.
05:19 Other details like: Sales Account, Inventory Account, C.O.G.S Account,

Inventory Adjustment Account, Item Assembly Costs Account, Dimensions.

05:32 I will keep it as it is.
05:35 Please fill the details likewise.
05:39 Click on Add New button to save the entry made.
05:44 The pop up message shows that we have successfully added a new item.
05:49 We can see the above table with the details updated here.
05:53 Scroll down.
05:55 Click on the Back option to return back to the Frontaccounting interface.
06:00 Let us see the Sales Pricing.
06:03 This option is used to assign sales prices to individual Sales item.
06:08 Click on the Sales Pricing option.
06:12 Click on the dropdown box.
06:15 Select the item for which we want to assign the Sales Price.
06:19 I will select the item as Cement.
06:23 This is because we will use this item for sales purpose in the Sales in Frontaccounting tutorial.
06:30 Now, click on the Currency dropdown box.
06:34 I will select the currency as Rupees.
06:38 Click on the Sales Type dropdown box.
06:40 There are two options: Retail and Wholesale.
06:46 How to setup the Sales Type option is explained in the Sales in Frontaccounting tutorial.
06:52 So, here I will select Wholesale.
06:56 Click on the Price field.
06:59 I will type the Price against the Item as 5,000 per Kg.
07:05 Click on Add new button.
07:07 The pop up message shows that we have successfully added a Sales price against the item Cement.
07:15 We can also see the table here which we have updated.
07:19 Click on the Back option to return back to the Frontaccounting interface.
07:25 Let us summarize.
07:27 In this tutorial, we have learnt to create:
07:30 Units of Measure, Items, Item Category and Sales Pricing.
07:36 As an assignment,
07:38 Add a new item Steel with an Item code 46 in the Items & Inventory tab.
07:45 Create a new Item Category using the above added item.
