About ABT

  • Aakash Business Tool is a portable accounting platform on Android intended for Accountants and Students.

It was initially derived from GNUkhata, a free accounting software which is mostly based on Python framework.

Some features included in Aakash Business Tool:
  • Managing Organizations and User authentication
  • Maintaining books of accounts
  • Recording, cloning and editing transactions
  • Recording of transactions under particular project
  • Generating reports such as
    • Ledger Accounts,
    • Trial Balance(Net, Gross, Extended)
    • Project Statement,
    • Cash Flow and
    • Balance Sheet(Conventional or Sources of application and funds)
    • Profit and Loss Account/Income and Expenditure
    • Cash Book


  • Bank Reconciliation
  • Rollover
  • Export reports in PDF/CSV format
  • Import/Export of organization data to other device
  • ABT running on a remote server


Point to Aakash Tablet
  • I am using Aakash Tablet which is rooted
  • ABT requires a rooted android tablet for now.
  • In future it could be rooted on any android tablet
Point to internet connection The process requires a working internet connection
  • If you’re behind proxy, then do appropriate settings to bypass your proxy server.
  • You will find proxy setting in Settings -> WiFi -> Advance Options
  • Bypass 127.0.0.1 proxy settings.


This is not required for direct Internet connections.

  • Open the browser on Aakash and visit this link: http://aakashlabs.org/downloads/.
  • Please find Download link for Aakash Business Tool. Download and install the apk.



Point to ABT icon
  • Click on ABT icon from the list of applications installed on device
  • Allow it to download image file.


Download and extraction Downloading and extraction process will take some time
Point to reboot option Reboot the device
Point to ABT application ABT application is now ready to use
