In this tutorial, I am using
  • ABT 1.0
  • Android 4.2 &
  • Rooted Tablet
  • Working Internet Connection
  • 300MB of free space on internal/external SD-card.

What is ABT?

A portable accounting tool on Android intended for accountants and students.

It is free and open source software. Licensed under GNU GPL v3.

Who can use ABT?

It can be used by a NGO's as well as by a Profit making organization.



Features of ABT

Manage Organizations & User authentication
Point to slide 9 Maintain books of accounts
Point to slide 10 User is allowed to change the default credit/debit settings

By prefixing a negative sign during account creation.

Point to slide 11 Record, clone, and edit transactions
Point to slide 12 One can record transactions under a project
Point to slide 13 Generate reports such as,

Ledger,

Trial Balance(Net, Gross,Extended),

Cash Flow,

Cash Book,

Project Statement,

Balance Sheet(Conventional or Sources of application and funds),

Profit & Loss Account

Point to slide 16 Export reports in PDF/CSV format

Now lets learn how to install ABT
Settings -> WiFi -> Advance
Options
If you work behind a proxy server, then make sure to bypass proxy server settings.

Settings -> WiFi -> Advance Options

Also add an addition entry of 127.0.0.1 to bypass localhost.

Skip this step for direct Internet connection.

Point to web browser Open the browser on Aakash tablet and visit this link:

http://www.aakashlabs.org/ac/projects/

Search for Aakash Business Tool.

Tap on Download button.

When prompted install the apk.


Point to ABT icon Tap on ABT icon from the list of applications installed on device

Allow it to download image file.

Download and extraction Downloading and extraction process will take some time
Point to reboot option Reboot the device
Point to ABT application ABT application is now ready to use
Manual Installation

Point to web browser

Visit http://www.aakashlabs.org/ac/projects from your web

browser.

Search for Aakash Business Tool and tap on Download to download the APK.

Download a compressed image file from

http://www.it.iitb.ac.in/AakashApps/repo/abt.tar.gz


Point to extracted image file Extract image file.

Image file name will be abt.img.



Point to sd card Copy abt.img and ABT.apk to sdcard(internal or external) of

Aakash tablet.

Using a file browser, install ABT by clicking on ABT.apk file.

When prompted, say Yes.

Point to reboot option Reboot the device
Point to ABT application ABT application is now ready to use.
From the next tutorial we will learn how to use ABT.
