Procedure to construct a biogas plant |
Hello everyone.
Welcome to this spoken tutorial on Material required to construct a biogas plant |
| Slide Number 2
Learning Objective
|
In this tutorial, we will learn about

Where to procure the materials from ? |
The materials required to construct a biogas plant can be procured from-
Any hardware & cement shop. |

Material required to construct a Biogas plant ? |
The following materials are required to construct the plant: |
| [[Image:]] | Cement 14 packs |
| [[Image:]] | Gravel - ½ brass |
| [[Image:]] | Sand - 1 brass |
| [[Image:]] | 3 bundles of chicken mesh, 30 feet each |
| [[Image:]] | Weldmesh sheet of size 3 ft x 4 ft with 1 inch x 1 inch of the hole size |
| [[Image:]] | 12 ft of 6 mm steel rods- 35 kgs |
| [[Image:]] | 1 kg of steel wire -to be cut into 7-8 inches pieces |
| [[Image:]] | Bricks- 3 |
| [[Image:]] | 2kg of white cement |
| Image | 1 kg of lime powder |
| [[Image:]] | Jute gunny bags- 25 (approx.) |
| [[Image:]] | Plastic sheet- 13 feet x 10 feet |
| [[Image:]] | 7 Bamboo sticks of approx. size - 3.5 ft |

| [[Image:]] | Hook |
| [[Image:]] | Trough with a capacity of 10 kgs |
| [[Image:]] | Scissor to cut the chicken mesh |
| [[Image:]] | Measuring tape -1 no. |
| [[Image:]] | Newspaper - 1 kg |
| [[Image:]] | Scale with two hooves at the two ends |
| [[Image:]] | Iron rod with hollow ends at the either sides |
| [[Image:]][[Image:]][[Image:]] | We will now look at other items required to construct the plant such as
|
| [[Image:]] | Main gas control valve of size 1 inch |
| [[Image:]] | * Metal pipe to be connected from the center of the dome - 30 cms x 1 inch diameter
|
| [[Image:]] | * Gas conveyer pipe of 1/2 inch diameter
|
| [[Image:]] | * Inlet pipe connected from Mixing tank to Digester tank - 6 inches diameter and approx. 5 ft length |
| [[Image:]] | * Another outlet pipe of 6 inches diameter
, |
| [[Image:]] | * If the outlet pipe is not required alternately, construct a drain between slurry tank and the slurry collection pit as shown here
|
| [[Image:]] | We also required Safety-valve of size 1 inch |
| [[Image:]] | * Approximately, 6 mtrs of rubber hose pipe of ½ inch diameter.
Club these two images This rubber hose pipe will be used to convey the gas from the safety valve to the kitchen stove. |
| [[Image:]] | * 2 Vohj clips to secure the pipe. |
| [[Image:]] | A few other items like-
|
| [[Image:]] | Teflon tape |
| [[Image:]][[Image:]][[Image:]] | Always use good quality cement, gravel and sand.
These are really important for the durability of the biogas plant. |
Let’s now talk about the-
| |
| [[Image:]] | To construct the biogas plant, we need approx. 12ft X 8 ft of land, near the house. |
| [[Image:]] | The site should be such that-
|
| [[Image:]][[Image:]] | The selected site should also ensure easy operation and maintenance of -
|
| The site should also be located near to the source of animal dung and the toilet.
This will help to easily operate the plant and avoid wastage of raw materials.
| |
The total no. of days required to complete the civil work of a biogas plant are 3 - 5 days. |
| The best time of the year to construct the biogas plant is between November and June.
Constructing biogas plants during the rainy season is best avoided, as it becomes messy.
| This brings us to the end of this tutorial on the material required to construct a Biogas plant.
The construction part of the Biogas plant will be explained in next tutorial under the same series
