Installation of ABT |
Now, let's learn how to install ABT on an Aakash tablet.
|
Settings -> WiFi -> Advance Options | We need an internet connection to download files onto the tablet.
|
Go to Settings -> WiFi -> Advance Options | I am behind a proxy. So, let us learn to configure the proxy settings now. |
Press Settings >> WIFI | You can find this option under Settings and WiFi.
|
Long press on “___________” | Long press on the WIFI network that you want to connect to.
I will choose “_____________” |
Press Modify network | Then, choose Modify network. |
Enter the password | Enter the password for the selected WIFI network. |
As per narration | Check Show Advanced Options checkbox. |
As per narration | Fill all the required details. |
As per narration | Add an entry for 127.0.0.1 to bypass the localhost. |
Press on web browser icon on the tablet. | Now, open the web browser on your tablet. |
in the address bar, type http://aakashlabs.org/ac/iitb/ | Type this URL in the address bar |
As per narration | Search for Aakash Business Tool & tap on Download.
It will download ABT.apk file to Download folder of internal card. Go to that location. |
Tap on ABT apk file. | To install, tap on the ABT apk file which we downloaded. |
It will pop-up two options:
1.Package Installer and 2.Verify and Install. | |
Point to Package Installer | |
Point to Verify and Install option | |
Tap on Package Installer >> Select Just Once >> select Install | Tap on Package Installer.
Select Just once and select Install.

Point to ABT application | Now let us open the ABT application from the application menu. |

Recommended Method |
First we will learn the recommended method of installation. |
Point to the prompt >> Select Yes | When we open ABT for the first time it will prompt ,
File system does not exist! Do you want to download and install?
|
Point to progress bar | This will download abt.tar.gz file in your internal memory. |
Point to extraction | After downloading the file, it will automatically extract abt.tar.gz file. |
Point to the prompt | After extraction, it will again prompt
File system is not mounted, device requires a reboot |
Tap on Reboot | Now click on Reboot, to Reboot the tablet.
If in case the application asks for superuser permission, say GRANT.

Manual Installation

Now lets learn how to install ABT manually.

Once we have installed ABT apk, go to the browser. Now type http://www.it.iitb.ac.in/AakashApps/repo/abt.tar.gz in the address bar.

Select Package Installer | |
Point to ABT application | Now, open ABT application.

Point to extraction | It will directly start the extraction of abt.tar.gz file.

Point to super user alert | If in case, the application asks for superuser permission, say GRANT |
Point to the prompt | After extraction it will prompt the message,
File system is not mounted, device requires a reboot Now click on Reboot, to Reboot the tablet. Note: In case there is not enough space in internal memory,
|
Point to ABT application | We have successfully installed Aakash Business Tool.
Now lets open the “ABT” application. You can see the information about ABT. Now ABT is ready to use.
