To add subscription for serials I have already logged in as Superlibrarian.
Narration only Remember we had Catalog a serial in an earlier tutorial.

In this tutorial, we will learn to add a Subscription for the same Serial.

Koha homepage click on Serial Module Now on the Koha homepage click on the Serials module.
Cursor on Serials

Click on +New subscription

The Serials page opens.

Now click on Add New subscription.

Cursor on Add a new subscription (1/2) Add a new subscription one of two page opens.

Here, we will be prompted to fill in subscription details.

Click on the tab Search for vendor adjacent to empty boxes. For the Vendor field click on the tab Search for vendor adjacent to two empty boxes.
Pop-up window Serial subscription: search for vendor A pop-up window Serial subscription: search for vendor opens.

Remember in an earlier tutorial Place Order For a Book we added a vendor Powai Book Agency.

Vendor name type Powai Book Agency.

Click on the Search button

Now click on the Search button at the bottom of the window.
Vendor search results page A new page showing the Vendor search results opens.
Under the column Select click on Choose adjacent to the Vendor name

Add a new subscription (1/2) page.

In the table below, under the Select column, click on Choose adjacent to the Vendor name.

The same window closes and the details entered appear on the page.

In the field for Keyword type Library Science.

In the field for Limit item type to: from the dropdown select Serial.

In the field Limit collection code to: As it is

Click on Search

A pop-up window Catalog search opens.

In the field for Keyword enter Library Science.

For the Limit item type to field from the dropdown select Serial.

And leave the field Limit collection code to as it is.

Then, click on the Search button at the bottom of the window.

First issue publication date: enter 01/01/2024

Frequency: select ⅓ months i.e.quarterly from the drop down

Subscription length:

  • Select issues from the drop down
  • Type 4 in the box for enter amount in numerals
  • Subscription start date: >> 01/01/2025
  • Subscription end date: >> 12/31/2025
Under the section Serials Planning enter the required details as shown here.
Numbering pattern: drop down >> select Volume and Number For the Numbering pattern field from the drop-down select Volume, Number.

A table will appear with Volume and Number pattern above the Test prediction pattern.

Point to Locale.

Locale: Select English(English) from the drop-down

Locale field from the drop-down select English if not selected by default.

If the journal language is not in English then choose as per your journal language.

Pause the video and fill the details.

In Begins with row under the Volume column type 18

In Begins with under the Number column type 1

For Inner counter row Volume column leave as it is.

In Inner counter under the Number column type 4

Next, enter the following details for the Volume and Number table as shown here.
Click on Show advanced pattern Next click on Show advanced pattern.

It will display some new fields along with a table.

Pause the video and fill in the entries

Pattern name: Volume, Number

Numbering formula: Vol.{X}, No.{Y}

Label:X as Volume

Y as Number

Begins with : X as 18

Y as 1

Label, Begins with, Add, Every, Set back to, When more than, Inner counter under X and Y column.

Scrolling down note that the Koha auto generates value for the Pattern name and Numbering formula field.

We can also see Koha auto generated values for the Advanced prediction pattern.

Cursor on modify pattern If you want you may click on the modify pattern to edit the entries.

For now we will leave it as it is.

Click on the Test prediction pattern Now, click on the Test prediction pattern button at the bottom of the page.
