00:01 Welcome to the Spoken Tutorial on Overview and Installation of Synfig.

00:43 First, let us learn about Synfig.
00:46 Synfig is a 2D animation software. It is a free open source software.
00:53 Next, let us learn some of the features of Synfig.
00:57 It works on Linux, Windows and Mac Operating System
01:02 It can draw various shapes and Creates text animation
01:07 It can import png images and animate those images
01:12 It creates Cutout animation
01:16 It also creates Character walk cycle

The Output can be rendered in gif, avi and various other formats

01:34 Next we will see how to install Synfig on Ubuntu OS.
01:39 To follow the installation procedure, you need to be connected to the Internet.
01:44 Open the terminal by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T keys together.
01:50 Now in the terminal type sudo space apt hyphen get install synfigstudio and press Enter.

Enter the system password if required.

02:07 It will display a message of how much disk space will be occupied.
02:13 Type Y and press Enter to confirm this.

This will install Synfig.

02:18 Let us check whether the Synfig is installed successfully.
02:22 In the terminal, type synfigstudio and press Enter.
02:28 We can see the Synfig console opens.
02:31 Now let us learn the installation of Synfig on Windows operating system.
02:37 To follow the installation procedure, you need to be connected to the Internet.

Open your default web browser.

02:45 In the address bar, type the url: https://www.synfig.org/download-stable

Press Enter.

03:02 In Choose your OS drop down box, select your OS details - Windows 64bit / Windows 32bit.

I’ll select Windows 64bit.

03:15 In Name a fair price field, type 0(zero) and press GET SYNFIG.

A popup window appears.

03:23 Type your email-id as shown. Click on Continue
03:29 Next, select your location in dropdown box and press Continue.

Click on Complete Checkout.

03:37 You will get an email from Paddle help@paddle.com

Check your email and click on Download button in the mail.

03:47 A popup window appears. Click on Save.
03:51 Go to Downloads folder and double click on .exe file of Synfig.
03:57 A pop up window appears. Click on Run button.

Synfig Studio Setup window appears.

04:04 In License Agreement section, choose I Agree.

Click on Next and then on Install.

04:14 Click on Close. Synfig is now successfully installed.
04:20 To check, click on Windows button and type Synfig.

You can see Synfig opens up.

04:28 Now, we will briefly go through the individual tutorials in this series.
