Switch to the browser and open your Moodle site. |
Username: becky0808

Login with your teacher username and password details. |
We are now in the teacher dashboard. | |
Point to Calculus | In the navigation menu on the left, notice Calculus under My Courses. |
Click on Calculus | Click on the Calculus course. |
Highlight the course topics and summaries. | We have already added announcements and some common course details earlier. |
We will now add some additional course material. | |
Slide 5: Resources in Moodle |

Click on Add an activity or resource
|
Let’s begin.
|
Select Page | A pop-up opens with a list of resources.
|
Click on Add button. | Click on the Add button at the bottom of the pop-up screen. |
Name: Lecture 1 Notes | In the Name field, I will type Lecture 1 Notes. |
Description: Involutes and construction of Involute of circle | Then in the Description box, type “Involutes and construction of Involute of circle”. |
Click on Display description on course page | Check the option Display description on course page. |
Scroll down to see the Page Content box.

Scroll down to see the Page Content box.

Click on down-arrow | Let us now format this text.

Select heading text
|
I will make the headings more prominent, as shown. |
Point to the options one by one as per narration. | The options in the text editor are similar to any other standard text editor.

Point to the option. | There’s an option to add an image, as well.
|
Press Enter.
Click on the Image icon. |
Press Enter to make space for the image. Then click on the Image icon. |
Point to Image properties | The Image properties window appears. |
Point to the URL field | If you want to insert an external image, you can enter the URL of the image here. |
Click on Browse Repositories | I will click on Browse Repositories button to upload an image. |
Point to File Picker | A pop-up window opens with the title File Picker. |
Click on Upload a file -> Choose File Select involutes-img1.png | Click on Upload a file.

This image is also available in the Code Files link. You can download and use it. | |
Click on Upload this file. | Click on Upload this file button. |
Description: This is the involute of a circle | We will type the description as “This is the involute of a circle”. |
Click on Save image | Lastly, click on Save image button to insert the image. |
Highlight Add media icon. | The next option is to add media. This could be a URL, video or audio file.

Click on Manage files.
|
The next option is Manage Files. Let’s click on it.
|
Highlight the 3 icons. | There are 3 icons on the left of this pop-up box. |
Click on File picker. | First is the File picker. Let’s click on it. |
Highlight as per narration. | It has options to see the server files, recent files, etc.
|
Click on Create Folder. | Next, we will click on Create Folder icon, which is the second icon. |
New folder name ->Assignments | In the New folder name field, let’s type Assignments. |
Click on Assignments folder | Then click on the Assignments folder to open it. |
Drag the assignment file. | Let me drag my file inside the Assignments folder. |
Click on the uploaded file | Now, click on the file that that was just uploaded. |
Point as per narration | This pop-up has the option to modify the file name and author.

Click on Cancel button | I don’t wish to change anything.
|
Slide 6a: Assignment | Now, pause the tutorial and do this small assignment:

Upload the 3 files. You will find them in the Code files link of this tutorial.
|
Highlight the File Manager folders and file. | Your File manager should now have 2 folders, named Assignments and Reference Material.
|
Click on cross icon.
|
Close the pop-up window by clicking on the X icon at the top right. |
Highlight the options as per narration | The next set of formatting options are
Underline, Strikethrough, Subscript and Superscript.

Point to equation editor. | Let’s learn how to use the next option, that is the equation editor. |
Show the sentence in the doc file. | I want to add this sentence with an equation in it. |
Click on equation editor. | So I will click on equation editor icon. |
Insert the equation.

Then use the equation editor to type the equation. |

Click on Save equation. | Click on Save equation button when you have finished. |
Highlight the options as per narration | Insert character, insert table and clear formatting options, work as in any other text editor. |
Point to Undo and Redo | The next two options are Undo and Redo.

Highlight the 2 options as per narration | After this, we have 2 options for accessibility.

Highlight the toggle HTML option. | The last option is to toggle from the editor view to HTML code view.

Make the word Involute bold and italicized.

I have formatted the text using the bold, italics and list options for this demonstration.

Click on Save and display. | When you finish the formatting, scroll down to the bottom and click on Save and display button. |
Demo of logout | We can now logout of Moodle. |
Switch to Priya Sinha’s login and view the page | This is how student Priya Sinha will view this page. |
