Open Web Browser

Type http://127.0.1.1/8000

and Press Enter.

Open the Web Browser and type this url.

This URL is based on the port number and domain name given at the time of installation.

Press Enter Now, press Enter.
Show Opac homepage

Welcome to Spoken Tutorial Library

This will open the OPAC homepage

I will open the Spoken Tutorial Library OPAC page.


For this, click on the libraries tab.


Locate the Spoken Tutorial Library.


To open this library, click on it.


The Spoken Tutorial Library OPAC page

opens.

Go to top right corner of the OPAC page

Click on Login to your account:

On the top right corner of the OPAC page, click on Login to your account.

This login is for the patrons of the library.

Cursor on Login id and Password: On the new window that opens, we have to enter our patron Login and Password
Enter login as Maya Hans and password as Maya@123


Show at 2.15

Recall that we had created a Patron as Ms. Maya Hans in an earlier tutorial.

I will login as Maya and type her password here.

If you had created a different patron, then use those login details here.

Note that on the left side of the page we can see these tabs.
Click the Summary tab. Upon clicking these tabs, details of the Patron open.

We will learn about these tabs later in this tutorial.

Lists

On the top left corner of the OPAC interface, notice that there are two tabs:
  • Cart and
  • Lists
Type Microbiology in OPAC

Click on Go

We can add a Library item to a cart.


For that let us search for the item in OPAC, as explained earlier.


I will type Microbiology and click on the Search icon.


The search result of the keyword appears.

  • Place hold
  • Save tolLists
  • Add to cart


Under each title, the following options appear-
  • Place hold
  • Save to lists
  • Add to cart


Notice that some items do not have the option Place Hold.

This is because it appears only for the items that can be issued by the library.

Point to Add to cart option Click on the option Add to cart for adding any particular item to the cart.
To add multiple items to the cart then do the following steps.
Cursor on Select titles to: Locate the tag Select titles to: just above the list of items.
Click on the radio button on the left side of the respective items To add items to the cart, click the check box on the left of the respective item.
Click on Add to cart Now go to the top and click on Add to cart.
Cursor on Cart All the selected items will move to the cart.
Cursor on Cart Next, go to the top left corner of the interface and locate the tab Cart.
Cursor on 2 Please note: number 2 represents the total number of selected items.

As I selected 2 items, the number here is 2.

This number depends on the number of items selected.


Click on the cart.

On clicking, a new window Your cart with the following options, appears:
  • More details
  • Send
  • Download
  • Print
  • Hide window
  • Empty and close

You may explore these on your own.

Close the window.

Click on the Close button.

After exploring, close this window.

Go to the top left corner of the page and click the Close button.

Cursor on the interface. We are now in the OPAC interface.
Click on Save to Lists To add an item to Lists, click on Save to Lists, at the bottom of each item.
A new window Add to a list: opens

A new window Add to a list: opens with the title of the particular item.

In my case -Industrial Microbiology Patel, Arvind H.

Cursor on section- Add to a new list:

Type Microbiology in the field for List name:

Under the section Add to a new list: we have List name: field.

In this field, type the name of the list for your reference.

I will type Microbiology here.

You may give a name as per your requirement.

Under Category: From the drop down click on Private Next, under Category: we have a drop-down.

Click on Private if not selected by Koha.

This ensures that the list will be visible only to you.

Click on green Save Now, click on the Save button.
Click on the tab Lists We are brought back to the OPAC interface.

Now, at the top left corner of the OPAC interface, click on the tab Lists.

Click on Microbiology

Point to Microbiology.

From the drop-down, I will click on Microbiology.

If you have given a different name for your list, then click on that name.

Narration only Now let us look at the tabs on the left side.
Click on Personal details on the left side of the same page To begin with, I will click on the tab Personal details.

Click on Checkout history Next, click on Checkout history, on the left side of the same page.

Enter the ISBN/ISSN number as- 1234567891 Then I will enter the Standard number (ISBN, ISSN or other) number as- 1234567891
Click Submit your suggestion Scroll down and click on Submit your suggestion at the bottom of the page.

Point to the message.

A new page Your purchase suggestions opens, again.

A message, Your suggestion has been submitted appears.

Here we learnt how a patron can use OPAC to search a book in a Koha Library.
