00:01 Welcome to the Spoken Tutorial on Creating and burning CD/DVD using K3b.
00:08 In this tutorial, you will learn how to burn files on to a CD.

00:21 What can you do with k3b?
00:24 K3b is used to create and burn files onto 'CD/DVD'.
00:30 Burning files is copying files from desktop onto a 'CD/DVD'.
00:37 k3b supports all file formats to burn - audio, video or data.
00:44 Here, we are using k3b 2.0.2 on Ubuntu Linux 12.04.
00:54 You need to ensure that you have inserted a CD/DVD into the drive, for this tutorial.
01:01 I have also added an audio file to my folder Myk3bCD.
01:09 We had created and saved this folder on the Ubuntu Desktop earlier.
01:16 I have added an audio file "Learningk3b" to this folder.
01:21 You can use any audio file of your choice.
01:26 First, click Dash Home which is the round button on the top left corner of your computer desktop.
01:35 The Search box appears.
01:37 Now, type: "k3b".
01:40 The k3b icon appears.
01:44 Click on it to open the application.
01:47 Let us create and burn a CD using k3b.
01:52 For this, click on New Project icon.
01:55 From the drop-down that appears, select New Data Project.
02:01 Select the Home folder on the top left panel.
02:05 Now, we can see the files and folders in the Home folder.
02:11 Next, click on Desktop.
02:15 You can choose whichever folder or file you have on your machine.
02:20 For this demo, I will select the folder Myk3bCD.
02:26 So, I will right-click on Myk3bCD folder
02:31 and select Add to Project option.
02:35 Now, you can see the selected folder in the bottom panel.
02:41 Next, let us create a folder on the CD and move the Myk3bCD folder to it.
02:49 Right-click on the bottom left panel.
02:52 From the list of options that appear, select New Folder.
02:58 We can see a dialog box.
03:00 Type: "FolderOne" in the text box.
03:05 Click OK.
03:07 From the bottom panel, select Myk3bCD.
03:11 Next, select the file Writer1.
03:15 Drag and drop the selected file Writer1 to FolderOne.
03:21 To check if the file Writer1 has been copied, let us click on the FolderOne.
03:28 Here, we can see the file Writer1.
03:33 Now, from the bottom panel, click on the Burn icon.
03:39 The Data Project – k3b window appears.
03:44 Next, let’s change the settings in this Data Project – k3b window.
03:50 Select Writing tab and here, under Writing Mode, we will select Auto.
03:56 Notice that Auto is the default setting.
04:01 Now, let us select Filesystem tab.
04:05 It is set as Linux/Unix+Windows by default.
04:11 So, there is no need to make any changes here.
04:16 Now, let us go to Misc tab.
04:20 And here, under Multisession, select Auto.
04:24 Now, select Burn to burn the data to the CD.
04:30 The burning process begins.
04:33 Here, we can see the progress status bar in the window.
04:38 Once the burning is complete, the 'CD' ejects automatically.
04:43 The files are now copied on to the CD.
04:47 This is the end of the burning process.
04:51 Let us burn and save audio files on another 'CD'.
04:56 First, ensure that a new CD is inserted and the drive is closed.
05:03 As before, go to New Project and select New Audio CD Project.
05:09 Here, browse to the Myk3bCD folder from the top left panel.
05:17 Now, let us select the audio file "Learningk3b" in the top right panel.
05:25 Next, drag and drop the audio file onto the bottom right panel.
05:31 Let’s check if we have dragged and dropped the correct file.
05:35 You can check the file details here, in the bottom panel.
05:40 For this file, we can see that the Artist, Title and File name are displayed.
05:47 Now, let us learn how to burn this audio.
05:52 For this, from the main toolbar, click Save.
05:56 We can see the Save As – k3b window.
06:00 Here, type a name for your project in the text box.
06:05 I will type MyWork. Now, click Save.
06:12 Now, click Burn.
06:15 It opens Audio Project – k3b window.
06:20 Here, we shall use the default tab settings.
06:24 However, you can make changes in the tabs as per your requirements.
06:30 Now, again click Burn.
06:34 We can see the progress status window.
06:37 And the CD ejects after burning finishes.
06:43 This means that saving and burning the audio file is completed.
