Hello Everybody.

Welcome to this spoken tutorial on the Export feature in GeoGebra.

Learning Objectives

In this tutorial,

we will learn about the Export feature in GeoGebra

  • To Export the drawing pad figures as a static picture
  • To Export the GeoGebra file as a dynamic HTML webpage

System Requirements

To get started with Geogebra, I am using the

GNU/Linux operating system Ubuntu Version 10.04 LTS

and Geogebra version 3.2.40.0

Switch to Geogebra Window

Click on File >> Open

Now to the GeoGebra Window.

Open any GeoGebra file that you have already created by selecting File menu option and Open.

Select ConcentricCircles.ggb I will select ConcentricCircles.ggb.
Close the Algebra and Spreadsheet Views. Let us close the Algebra and Spreadsheet Views if they are open.
Click on Move Graphics View tool We can use the Move Graphics View tool and position the drawing pad objects.
You can choose to select objects to export, or you may export the entire drawing pad if you don't select any objects
Click on File >> Export>>Graphics View as Picture Select menu option File>> Export>> Graphics View as Picture
Select .png Select the format of the file you want to export it to, let us select png.
Point to the Scale. You can change the Scale here, we will leave the default values
Point to the Resolution You can decrease or increase the Resolution here.
Click on Save>> select folder, file-name and Click Save Click Save, select the folder name here, select the file name.

The File type is already here the png file type, and click Save.

Exporting as a Static Picture

To Summarise,

Select the objects on the drawing pad,

or leave it unselected to export the entire drawing pad

Select menu option File >Export > Graphics View as Picture.

Choose the Format, Scale and Resolution and save the exported file.
Now to the second part of the lesson.
Open Interior Angles Triangle.ggb First let us open a GeoGebra file.

Interior Angles Triangle.ggb, to export GeoGebra as a dynamic web page.

Click on File >> Export >> Dynamic Websheet as webpage(html) Now select menu option File, Export >> Dynamic Worksheet as webpage(html)
Type the Title, Author and Date A box appears.

Enter the Title, the Author and the Date

Point to the two tabs

Click on the General tab

There are two tabs.

In the General Tab you can enter the text you want to above the construction and below the construction.

Above the construction,

copy and paste from odt file,

Move the vertices of the triangle and observe the values of the interior angles of the triangle

Let us add this text, I will copy, paste it by pressing CTRL +C and CTRL+V

Observe what happens when A,B and C are on a straight line by dragging the vertices.”

Point to the Advanced tab Now the Advanced tab
Point to the check-boxes There are a number of check boxes that add features and options of GeoGebra to include as part of the GeoGebra web-page.
Check “right-click” To enable right-click features on the webpage, check this (Enable right click features).
Check “enable moving labels To enable moving labels, check this (Enable dragging of labels).
Check “Show Icon to reset Construction To have an icon that resets the construction to the original position, check this (Show icon to resert construction).
Check “double-click” If you want GeoGebra application window to open on your computer when you double click on the GeoGebra webpage check this (Double click opens the application window).
Check the appropriate boxes If you want the Menu bar, Tool bar, Input bar and Save and Print options on your webpage, Check these options.
Point to width and height fields You can change the width and the height of the GeoGebra window, that appears on the webpage here
Select Export >>Save as html Select Export and Save it as an html file, by selecting the folder here

the file name here, the file type is already an html, click Save.

Switch to browser As I use Firefox web browser, it immediately opens once I export it.

Notice the text above and below the construction, and it is a dynamic web page on Firefox.

Exporting as a Dynamic Web Page

To Summarise,

Open a GeoGebra file that you have already created , select Menu option

File >Export > Dynamic Worksheet as webpage(html)

Choose the Title, Text and Advanced features and Export your GeoGebra file as a webpage - html file

View the html file using a web browser.

You will need sun-java6-plugin installed for Geogebra to work on Firefox.

Assignment

Now to the assignment –

Open any GeoGebra file and export as

A Static picture by selecting certain objects and then the whole drawing pad

and as a Dynamic web page.

In the dynamic web page include the following features

  • Reset option and
  • Tool Bar
