Narration | Let us start by opening the FrontAccounting interface. |
Click on browser >>localhost/account >> Press Enter | Click on the browser, type localhost slash account and press Enter. |
Enter Username and Password >>
Click on login |
The login page appears.
Recall that during installation, we had created admin user. So, here type username as admin and password as spoken. Then click on Login button. |
The FrontAccounting window opens. | |
Point to options of Front Accounting Interface | Standard modules have been provided in FrontAccounting. |
Point to the options as per the narration | The various modules are:
We will learn about all these modules in the upcoming tutorial. |
Narration | Let us start with the Setup tab in FrontAccounting. |
Point to Setup Icon>> click on it | The setup tab is used for Company Setting.
Parameters, default values and preferences are entered in this option. |
Click>> Setup tab>> | Click on the Setup tab. |

We can see the default icons which have to be filled, to Setup a company. They are :

Click >> Company Setup icon | Let us create a New Organisation or Company by clicking on the Company Setup icon. |
Point to >>Name field
Point >>'ST COMPANY PVT. LTD'>> |
In the Name field, by default, we can see the name of the company 'ST COMPANY PVT. LTD'.
This is because we had given this name during installation. But here you can also change the name based on how you want it to appear in the reports. I will keep the same name. Scroll down. Since my company is in India, I will setup the home currency to Rupees. |
We will be using this information later in this tutorial. | |
In the Home currency field, click on the dropdown menu.
A list of options will appear. But Rupees is not avialable in the list. | |
Let us see how to add a new currency to the list here. | |
Click on the Banking and General Ledger link in the top menu. | |
In the Maintenance panel, click on Currencies.
A new window appears. | |
Type 'INR' in the Currency Abbreviation field and 'Rs' in the Currency Symbol field.
In the Currency Name field, enter 'Rupees'. In the Hundredths Name field, enter 'Hundred' and in the Country field enter 'India'. Now click on 'Add new' button. We can see a message 'New currency has been added'. | |
Let us go back to the company setup page.
For this click on Setup in the top menu and then on Company setup icon. | |
Click>> Address field | In the Address field,
You have to give your company’s address. |
Click>> Phone no field >> | In the Phone No. field,
Once again, you have to give your company’s phone number. |
Click>> E- mail Address field>> | In the E-mail address field, give your company’s official email-id. |
Click on the Home Currency Drop down box. We can now see 'Rupees' in the list. Select 'Rupees'. | |
Narration | Now I’ll do the setup of fiscal year. |

Fiscal Year setup |
When you create a new Company, you should check that the Fiscal Year is set up correctly
By default, FrontAccounting software shows the fiscal year from January to December. This is not suitable for Companies and Organisation in India. So here, we can create our own financial year, which is from April to March. |
Click >> Update button>> | Click on Update button to save the entries. |
Come back to Frontaccounting | Let us change the Fiscal Year to Financial Year. |
Point to Setup icon | Click on the Setup tab of FrontAccounting. |
Point >> Fiscal Years icon | Click on to the Fiscal Years icon. |
Click>>Fiscal Year icon | You can see that, the Fiscal year begins from 01 January 2015 to 31 December 2015. |
Type 01 January 2016 to 31 March 2016. | First, I will create a dummy period for 3 months from 01 January 2016 to 31 March 2016. |

Click >> Calendar icon to select the date | I will select the 3 months dummy period from 01 January 2016 to 31 March 2016.
Now, click on the Add New button. |
Point to the new row of dummy period | Here, you can see the dummy period is created,
A message appears and it says - “New Fiscal year has been added”. |
Type 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017.
Click on Add new |
Then, I will type the next financial year, from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017.
Again, click on the Add new button. |
Point to >> Financial Year field>> | Here, you can see the Financial Year has been created.
Once again, the same message appears - “New Fiscal year has been added”. |
Narration | Now, we need to update these changes in the Company setup. |
Click Setup tab >>Company setup icon | Click on the Setup tab.
Then click on the Company Setup icon. |
Click Fiscal year Drop downbox >> Current Financial year. | Under Fiscal year field, click on the dropdown menu
select the current Financial Year. |
Click >> Update button
Highlight the message. |
Click on the Update button.
A message appears and says - “Company Setup has been updated”. |
Click >> Calendar icon to select the date | Now, we have to

Point to the delete year row | I will demonstrate the same. |
Click on the >> Setup Tab>> | Again, click on the Setup tab.
Click on the Fiscal years icon. |
Point to Fiscal Year | We can see the Fiscal year from 1st January 2015 to 31st December 2015. |
Click >> Edit Icon of Fiscal year>> | Click on Edit icon, then select Yes from the Is Closed drop down menu. |
Click >> Update button | Click Update button.
A message appears - “Selected fiscal year has been updated” |
Click>> Cross sign to delete | Now, I will click on the cross (X) sign for deleting the year.
A dialog box appears to confirm. Click on the Ok button. A message appears as “Selected fiscal year has been deleted”. |
Point to Dummy period and show how to delete | Likewise, I will remove the dummy period also. |
Point to 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017 | Now, you can see the current Financial Year has remained. |
Point to Current Financial Year. | Here, you will see the updated Financial Year in pink colour. |
Narration | Thus, we have updated the Company Setup. |
Point to Setup icon | Again click on the Setup icon. |
Click>> User Accounts Setup>> icon | Click on the User Accounts Setup. |
Point to the User login field | We can see the admin user login information such as
Recall these information are entered during the installation. Let us create a new user login. |
Point >> User Login>>type | In the User login field, I will type sheetalvp as a new user. |
Click >> Password>>type | Type the password in the password field. |
Point >>Full Name field>>type | In the Full Name field, I will type Sheetal Prabhu. |
Point >> Telephone No>> | In the Telephone No field,
I will type my phone no. |
Point >> E mail Address>> | Next is Email Address.

Point >> Access Level>>Sub Admin | In Access Level field, click on the drop down menu and select Sub Admin. |
Point>>language>> | In the Language field, by default, the drop down menu option is English. |
Point to >> User's POS>>
Point to Default |
Here, POS means Point of Sale.
We will keep the Default option. |
Point to >>Printing profile>> | Click on the Printing option drop down menu.
I will select Browser printing support. |
Point to >>Use popup window for reports>> | Next, by default the checkbox is checked for Popup window for the reports option. |
Click on Add new button | Click on Add new button.
We can see the message ‘A new user has been added’. |
Point to the new user below the admin. | We can also see that the new user is added in the panel below the admin. |
Point to Setup icon | Again, click on the Setup icon. |
Click>> Access setup icon>> | Next, let us see Access setup |
Click>>Role>> drop down menu | Click on the Role drop down menu.
I will select Sub admin. |
Point to the >> Access level field>> sub-admin
Scroll down to show the access permission |
We can see the default access given for a Sub admin to use.
Scroll down. We can see the permissions available for the sub admin. |
Point to available field | You can also check or uncheck the boxes as required for the Sub admin to use. |
Point to >> Save Role button>> | Click on Save Role button.
A message appears as “Security role has been updated”. |
Point to Setup icon | Again, click on the Setup icon to see the next tab. |
Click >>Display Setup >> icon | Display Setup is used to change the

Point >>Decimal Places>> | We can see the number of decimal places for
|
Point>> Date Format and Separators>> | We can change the date format and date separators by selecting the dropdown menu. |
Point >>Miscellaneous >> | We can see various Miscellaneous Settings also. |
Point to >> Update button>> | Click on Update button to save the changes.
We can see a message “Display settings have been updated”. |
