Download & installation of CellDesigner 4.3

In this tutorial we will learn
  • to download and install CellDesigner 4.3
  • on Windows Operating System.

System Requirements

To record this tutorial, I am using
  • Windows XP and
  • CellDesigner version 4.3
    Please note that CellDesigner works on Linux and Mac OS X also.


Go to website

www.celldesigner.org

Please note you need to be an admin user if you want to install any software.


You can download CellDesigner from celldesigner.org website

Click on downloads tab On the home page, you will find downloads tab.


Click on it.

Click on Download CellDesigner It will take you to another page.


Now, click on Download CellDesigner.

Scroll upto Download heading Scroll down.


Under Download heading, four links are present.

Click on Download for windows 32 bit' Click on the first link i.e. Download for windows 32 bit.


It will take you to another page.

Point to the 2 options. Here there are two options - Registered User and First Time User



Select First Time User & Click on Continue Select First Time User.


Click on Continue button.

Click on Download Fill in your details.


You need to fill in this information only once.


Later if you want to install any new version you need to click on Registered user. Type the email address and password and you will get the set up file.


Now, click on Download.

Select Save File This will open a small window for the set-up file.


Select Save File.

This will start downloading the set-up file. It will take few minutes.
After downloading the set-up file, CellDesigner window pops up.
Click on Next button Click on Next button
Select I accept the agreement Select the option I accept the agreement.
Click on Next button Click on Next button.


Select a destination folder to install CellDesigner on your computer.

Click on Next button Click on Next button
Click on Next button Click on Next button
Click on Finish button Click on Finish button to complete the installation procedure.


This will launch CellDesigner4.3 on your computer.


Click on the shortcut CellDesigner icon on the Desktop to open CellDesigner.

Show CellDesigner Interface Now, this is the CellDesigner Interface.


We will learn about the menu bars , tool bars and various panels in the coming tutorials.

Enzyme Substrate reaction


This is a model drawn with the help of CellDesigner.


Here the substrate binds with the enzyme, and an enzyme-substrate complex is formed. The substrate is transformed into product.


Let us see this model in CellDesigner


We can draw many such biological networks using CellDesigner.

Show the Model which will be drawn in the next tutorial To test the installation has happened properly let just add a protein here.


Lets go to File, add new. I will name this file as trial. Click on OK.


I will click on protein icon. Click here and

Name it as 'A'. In the next tutorial we shall continue with this and make this model.
