Let's get started.
Show what AI can do Nowadays, AI can generate

audio, video, images and text that look real.

As a result, it's difficult to distinguish between what is true and what's not.

That's why critical thinking is important.

Slide 5

What is Critical thinking?

Critical thinking means checking information before deciding if it is true.

However, while using AI, it is important to question the output.

For this demonstration, we will use Google Gemini.
Open Firefox browser.

Type: https://gemini.google.com/app

Press Enter.

Let us open the Firefox web browser.

In the address bar type this url and press Enter.

Cursor on homepage Gemini Homepage opens.
Cursor on Enter a prompt for Gemini.

Type: Is drinking lemon water good for weight loss?

Press Enter.

Under "Where should we start?", there is a search bar.

"Enter a prompt for Gemini" appears as default.

Type: Is drinking lemon water good for weight loss?

Press Enter.

Show Output Notice, Gemini generates an answer with several benefits.

The answer seems correct but should we trust it completely?

Think!

Is this scientifically proven?

Type: Please provide sources for this prompt

Press Enter.

Type: Please provide sources for this output and press Enter.
Show output. Review the provided sources.
Click links to verify the source.

Check if it's research based or just social media opinion.

Open a new tab.

Type: Is drinking lemon water good for weight loss?

Press Enter.

Let us open a new tab.

In the address bar type Is drinking lemon water good for weight loss?

Press Enter.

Show the answer We can see it generated the answer.
Click on the first link. Open the top links and read what it has to say.
Show the webpage answer. You may notice that the AI's answer may not be entirely accurate.
We should not accept or rely on AI answers directly.

We must always verify and understand them first.

Now let us look at another example.
Slide 6

Thomas Edison made the electric light bulb.

It is the world's greatest invention.

Before this, nights were completely dark and people could not do much work.

After its invention, lighting improved and life became easier.

Imagine receiving this message on WhatsApp on Edison's birth anniversary.

Thomas Edison made the electric light bulb.

It is the world's greatest invention.

Before this, nights were completely dark and people could not do much work.

After its invention, lighting improved and life became easier.

He worked alone for many years to create the electric light bulb.

His invention transformed the world and made him a renowned inventor.

Forward this message to 5 people.

He worked alone for many years to create the electric light bulb.

His invention transformed the world and made him a renowned inventor.

Forward this message to 5 people.

It is easy to create such messages using AI.

Think about it.

Should we trust and forward this message?

Is this fully true?

Did only one person invent the light bulb?

Why is it asking you to forward this message?

Type: Who invented the light bulb? Now, let us verify the actual information.
Open google new tab. Open a search engine on a new tab.

I'm using Google.

Type: Who invented the light bulb?

Press Enter.

In the address bar, type Who invented the light bulb?

Press Enter.

Cursor on Output. The search results are displayed.

Open the top three links from the results.

Highlight scientists' names. We can see that the message is not fully accurate.
The message seems too general and may not be accurate.
We will be spreading wrong information.

So, do not forward messages without verifying.

Always check before sharing.
