SIM stands for Subscriber Identity Module.

Smartphones need a SIM card to connect to a mobile network.

SIMs for Android smartphones come in different sizes.

A standard SIM card looks like this.

A micro SIM card is smaller than the standard SIM card.

A nano SIM card is smaller than a micro SIM card.

Let us see how to insert SIM cards in a dual SIM smartphone.
Images:
  1. Hold the phone front side up
  2. go around the edges/rim of the phone and point out the small dot like hole.
  3. Show different models
Ensure that the smartphone is turned off.

Hold the smartphone with the screen facing upwards.

On the rim of the smartphone search for the SIM card tray.

A SIM card tray has a small dot-like hole next to it.

Note that the position of the tray may vary based on the smartphone’s model.

  1. Remove the SIM card tray with the help of a pin
  2. Tray pops open
  3. Pull the SIM card Tray out
  4. Highlight the side of the tray, the direction in which the tray comes out
Insert the SIM card tray ejector pin in the SIM card tray hole and press gently.

The SIM card tray will pop-out.

Note that The tray is delicate so pull it out gently.

Note that in this tray there are 2 identical SIM card slots.

Here, Both the slots can hold nano SIM cards.

Refer to your device manual to know about SIM Card sizes it supports.

Observe the slanted corner of the SIM card.

Match the slanted corner of SIM card 1 with the slot 1's shape in the tray.

Now, carefully place the SIM card 1 in Slot 1.

Similarly, place the SIM card 2 in the slot 2 of the tray.

Recall how the SIM card tray came out.

Carefully put the tray back in its place.

We can now turn-on the smartphone.

Highlight the 3 slots

Some dual SIM smartphones have a hybrid slot in their SIM card tray.

A hybrid slot can hold either a SIM card or a Memory card.

We will learn about the memory card in another tutorial of the same series.

  5. Put the tray back inside the phone


To remove the SIM card from the smartphone, first turn-off the smartphone.

Then, pop-out the SIM card tray using the SIM card tray ejector pin.

Now, gently take out the SIM card tray and remove the desired SIM card.

Carefully place the SIM card tray back in the place.
