Show Slide Systems Requirements Ktouch 1.7.1 Ubuntu Linux version 11.10.	Here,we are using Ktouch 1.7.1 on Ubuntu Linux 11.10.
Open KTouch.	Let’s open KTouch.
Point to level 3.	Notice, that the Level displays 3. That is because, we were in level 3, when we closed Ktouch.
	We shall now learn to create a new lecture. Here we create new set of characters that can be displayed in the Teacher’s Line.
From the Main menu >> select File >> click Edit Lecture.	From the Main menu, select File, and click Edit Lecture.
Point to the Open Lecture File dialog box.	The Open Lecture File dialog box appears.
In the Open Lecture dialog box >> select the Create New Lecture option >> click OK.	Now, select the Create New Lecture option and click OK.
Point to the KTouch Lecture Editor dialog box.	The KTouch Lecture Editor dialog box appears.
In the Title field >> select and delete the name A default lecture >> type My New Training Lecture.	In the Title field, select and delete the name A default lecture and type My New Training Lecture.
Point to the Level Editor.	The Level Editor displays the Lecture Level.
Click inside the Level Editor box.	Click inside the Level Editor box.
In the New Characters in this Level field, enter the symbols &, *, and $. Enter them only once.	Now, under Data of Level 1, in the New Characters in this Level field, enter the symbols ampersand, star, and dollar. We enter them only once.
Point to the characters that are displayed in the first line of the Level Editor box.	Notice, that these characters are displayed in the first line of the Level Editor box.
In the Level Data field, first select and delete the text displayed. Enter the symbols &, *, and $ 5 times	In the Level Data field, first select and delete the text displayed. Enter the symbols ampersand, star and dollar 5 times.
Now under the Level Editor box, click on the Plus sign.	Now under the Level Editor box, click on the Plus sign.
	What happened?
Point to the second line comprising of alphabets appears in the Level Editor box.	A second line comprising alphabets appears in the Level Editor box.
Select this line.	Let’s select the second line in the Level Editor box.
Point to the 2 next to the Data of Level.	The Data of Level field now displays 2. This will be the second level in our typing lesson.
In the New Characters in this Level field, first delete the alphabets and then type fj.	In the New Characters in this Level field, enter fj.
In the Level Data field, first delete the text, enter fj five times.	In the Level Data field, enter fj five times.
	You can create as many levels, as you need, in your typing lesson.
	Similarly you can create as many levels as you want in your typing lesson.
Point to the Save icon which is the second icon on the bottom right hand corner. Click the Save icon.	Click the Save icon.
Point to the Save Training Lecture – KTouch dialog box.	The Save Training Lecture – KTouch dialog box appears.
In the Name field, enter New Training Lecture.	In the Name field, enter New Training Lecture.
Use the triangle to select KTouch Lecture Files (*.ktouch.xml) XML from the Filter dropdown list.	Now let us select a format for the file. In the Filter dropdown list, click the triangle. Select KTouch Lecture Files star.ktouch.xml within brackets as the format for the file.
Go to Desktop.	Browse to the Desktop to save the file there.
Click Save.	Click Save.
Point to the KTouch Lecture Editor dialog box and the name New Training Lecture.	The KTouch Lecture Editor dialog box now displays the name New Training Lecture.
	We have created a new training lecture with two levels!
Click the Close button.	Let us close the KTouch Lecture Editor dialog box.
	Now let us open the lecture we created.
From the Main menu >> select File >> click Open Lecture.	From the Main menu, select File, and then click Open Lecture.
Point to the Select Training Lecture File dialog box.	The Select Training Lecture File dialog appears.
Browse to the desktop and select New Training Lecture.ktouch.xml.	Browse to the Desktop and select New Training Lecture.ktouch.xml.
Point to the Teacher’s Line. Type three words and stop.	Notice that the symbols &, *, and $ are displayed in the Teacher’s line. Let’s start typing.
	We have created our own lecture and used it as a typing lesson!
From the Main menu, select File, click Open Lecture Browse the flowing folder path Root->usr->share->kde4->apps->Ktouch and select english.ktouch.xml	To go back to the KTouch typing lessons, from the Main menu, select File, click Open Lecture. Browse the flowing folder path Root->usr->share->kde4->apps->Ktouch and select english.ktouch.xml
Point to the Teacher’s Line the KTouch interface.	We can customize Ktouch to suit our preferences.
	For example, when you type a character that is not displayed in the Teacher’s Line, the Student line turns red. You can customize colours for different displays.
	Let us now change the colour settings.
From the Main menu >> select Settings >> click Configure – KTouch.	From the Main menu, select Settings, and click Configure – KTouch.
Point to the Configure – KTouch dialog box.	The Configure – KTouch dialog box appears.
In the Configure – KTouch dialog box >> click Color Settings.	In the Configure – KTouch dialog box, click Color Settings.
Point to the right panel where Color Settings displayed.	The Color Settings details appears.
Check the Use custom colour for typing line box.	Check the Use custom colour for typing line box.
Under Use Custom color for typing line, against the Teacher’s line, click the colour in the Text.	In the Teacher’s line field, click on the color box next to the Text field.
Point to the Select-Color dialog box.	The Select-Color dialog box is displayed.
In the Select-Color dialog box >> click the green colour under Forty Colors.	In the Select-Color dialog box, click green.
Click OK.	Click OK.
Point to the Configure – KTouch dialog box.	The Configure – KTouch dialog box appears.
In the Configure – KTouch dialog box, click Apply.	Click Apply.
Click OK.	Click OK.
Go to the KTouch interface. Point to the Teacher’s line.	The characters in the Teacher’s Line have changed to green!
	We shall now create our own keyboard.
Show Slide Create a New Keyboard To create a new keyboard we have to use an existing keyboard, Make changes to it, and save it in a different name.	To create a new keyboard we have to use an existing keyboard. Make changes to it, and save it in a different name.
From the Main menu >> select File >> click Edit Keyboard Layout.	From the Main menu, select File, and click Edit Keyboard Layout.
Point to the Open Keyboard File dialog box.	The Open Keyboard File dialog box appears.
In the Open Keyboard File dialog box >> click the Open a default keyboard option.	In the Open Keyboard File dialog box, select Open a default keyboard.
Click on the drop-down to select en.keyboard.xml.	Now, click on button next to this field. The list of keyboards is displayed. Select en.keyboard.xml.
Click the OK.	Click OK.
Point to the KTouch Keyboard Editor dialog box.	The KTouch Keyboard Editor dialog box appears.
In the Keyboard Title field, enter Training Keyboard.	In the Keyboard Title field, enter Training Keyboard.
Select en from the Language id dropdown list.	We need to select a language for the keyboard. Select en from the Language id dropdown list.
Point to the Set Keyboard Font button.	Let us change the fonts in the existing keyboard.
Click the Set Keyboard Font button.	Click Set Keyboard Font.
Point to the Select Font – KTouch dialog box window.	The Select Font – KTouch dialog box window appears.
In the Select Font - KTouch dialog box, select Ubuntu as the Font, Italic as the Font Style, and 11 as the Size.	In the Select Font - KTouch dialog box, let us select Ubuntu as the Font, Italic as the Font Style, and 11 as the Size.
Click OK.	Now click OK.
In the KTouch Keyboard Editor dialog box, point to the Save Keyboard As button. Click the Save Keyboard As button.	To save the keyboard, click Save Keyboard As.
Point to the Save Keyboard – KTouch dialog box. Browse the flowing folder path Root->usr->share->kde4->apps->Ktouch and select english.ktouch.xml	The Save Keyboard – KTouch dialog box appears. Browse the flowing folder path Root->usr->share->kde4->apps->Ktouch and select english.ktouch.xml
In the Name field, enter practice.keyboard.xml.	In the Name field, enter Practice.keyboard.xml.
Click Save.	Click Save.
	The file is saved in the format ‘<name>.keyboard.xml’.
Click Close.	Click Close.
	Can you use the newly keyboard immediately? No. You will have to mail it to the kde-edu mailing id. It will then be included in the next version of KTouch.
