About the Experiment

Density is the measure of amount of substance present in unit volume.
The SI unit of density is kg/m3. |

This is the digital vernier calliper.
It has lower jaws, upper jaws, stem, roller and screw clamp. It also has an On and Off button, Zero or Absolute button and inch or millimeter button. |

This vernier caliper can measure the dimensions precisely up to 0.01millimeter. |

Let us measure the dimensions using vernier caliper.
Open the lower jaws and insert the cuboid. Measure the length in millimeter and note in the table. Measure the breadth and note. Measure the height and note. |

Convert the values in millimeter to centimeter in each case dividing by 10.

Using the given formula calculate the volume of the cuboid in cm3. |

Let us now measure the mass of the cuboid using digital weighing balance.
Switch on the weighing balance, Press the Tare button to make the reading as 0.000 g. Open the side door and place the cuboid. Close the door. Note the mass of cuboid in the table. |

Using the given formula calculate the density of iron.
This is the value of density of iron in g/cm3. Convert the values in g/cm3 to kg/m3 by multiplying with 1000. |
