  • This tutorial is on Maintaining Organizations in ABT

In this tutorial, we will learn to:

  • Set up a new organization
  • Sign up as a user
  • Fill organization details
  • Select existing organization

System Requirement

In this tutorial, I am using

  • ABT 1.0
  • Android 4.2



Start ABT

Select ABT application on Android 4.2

Point to Welcome page of ABT

Depending upon the connection,it automatically chooses address of the server location such as,

  • Emulator
  • Tablet or
  • Remote server


Point to Tablet
  • Tablet option is chosen automatically to run ABT on Android device.


Point to Emulator
  • For Android developers, Emulator option to test app or modify ABT source code is chosen
Point to Remote server Location
  • On selecting Remote server Location, enter IP address manually.
  • It requires a live Internet connection & it can be within an Organization or an Institute.
  • User can access a centralize remote server running within the Institute.
  • The advantage is, each user will have his/her own account on the server.


  • If the remote server doesn't have ABT installed in it, then it will generate an alert
  • The alert will say to check IP or change server connection


Here it has chosen Tablet option

Point to options on left
  • Slide the sliding drawer to the right of the screen
  • We will see three options here on the left
  • Import Organization,Change Server Location & Help

  • We will learn about Import Organization in another tutorial

We can change the server location by this option


Point to Help option
  • Help tells us how to use ABT

So, this is the welcome page of ABT i.e Aakash Business Tool


Point to 2 buttons Create new organization and Select existing organization

On the first page, we will see 2 buttons at the top,

  • Create new organization and
  • Select existing organization
  • And here at the bottom you will see a brief information on ABT
Point to Create new organization button
  • The first step to get started is to create an organization
  • To get started, there should be at least one organization.
  • So, we will now create a new organization by selecting Create new organization button

Now we can view options like:

  • Enter organization name
  • Select organization type
  • and Set from date & Set to date


Point to Enter organization name
  • In the Enter organization name field we can enter any organization name
  • For example Free Accounting Foundation
  • Tap on Done


Tap on dropdown of Select organization type

In select organization type, we have 2 options

  • NGO
  • Profit Making
  • I shall select NGO as my option
Point to Financial year
  • Now here we can set from date and to date in financial year option
  • ABT provides 1st April to 31st March as the predefined financial year
  • User can change the from date and to date manually according to organization’s rules or requirements.
  • Once the from date is set, to date gets automatically updated by 12 months and minus 1 day.
Point to from date
  • Now lets change the from date here to 2012 and select set
  • We will notice that to date updates automatically to 2013


Point to Next button
  • After filling all the necessary data lets tap on next button
Point to prompt box
  • On this page, it says organization Free Accounting Foundation has been created successfully
  • Even we can notice the financial year - from date and to date
Select role
  • Here we have to select role such as admin or guest.
  • Guest user has a default username guest and password is also guest
Point to admin
  • If we select admin, a new pop-up box appears on the screen to sign up as an Admin.
  • Save details and press done to continue for admin
  • I shall select cancel
  • And I will select guest as a role to login
  • We will notice the username is guest and password is also guest
  • Now lets press login button


Point to next page
  • On the next page, we have to fill organization details
  • Fill the organization details if required else, press Skip button.


Point to State dropdown
  • I shall select Maharashtra from state dropdown


Point to Save button
  • Press the Save button
  • Organization gets created by pressing either Save or Skip button.
  • I shall press save button
  • It says Organization Free Accounting Foundation with details saved successfully
  • Tap on ok
Point to master menu
  • Now we are on the master menu of ABT
  • To logout press escape and press Yes
Point to welcome page
  • We will be directed back to the welcome page of ABT
  • Press Select existing organization button
  • We will see the created organization in the Organization name field.

  • To set up a new organization
  • To sign up as a user
  • Fill organization details
  • Select existing organization
