  • Oracle VirtualBox 7.2.4 and
  • A working internet connection.

To follow this tutorial,

learners should have Oracle VirtualBox 7.2.4 installed in their systems.

Open VirtualBox Click on New button.

Click on New button

Cursor on New Virtual Machine

VM Name field type Ubuntu.

Cursor on VM FolderClick on ISO Image Select Other

Let's get started with installation of Ubuntu 24.04.

On the Desktop double click on the VirtualBox icon.

Oracle VirtualBox Manager window opens.

At the top left corner, we can see a blue gear shaped New button.


Let me click on it.A New Virtual Machine window opens.

In the VM Name field let us type Ubuntu.

Please note that the VM Folder is selected by default.

Next, from the ISO Image dropdown select Other.


Open window appears.

We can see the ubuntu hyphen 24.04.3 hyphen desktop hyphen a m d 64 file.

Select file Open button

click on Set up unattended guest OS installation dropdown.

Cursor on

  • User Name and Password
  • OS Installation Options


Cursor on User Name

User Name: spokenPassword: spoken

Confirm Password: spoken

Let us select the file and click on the Open button at the bottom.

The Open window gets closed automatically.

The selected file is reflected in the ISO image field.

Now I will click on Set up unattended guest OS installation dropdown.

We can see two sections:

  • User Name and Password
  • OS Installation Options


Let us go to the User Name and Password section.

I will fill in the User Name and Password as spoken.


Let’s retype the same password in the Confirm Password field.


Please remember these login credentials.They will be required during login.

Click on Specify virtual hardware


Change Base Memory to 8544 MB

Number of CPU’s to 6Highlight right panel changes

Let us click on Specify virtual hardware dropdown.

Let me increase the Base Memory to 8544 MB and Number of CPUs to 6.

The changes are reflected on the right.

Click on Specify virtual hard diskHighlight Disk Size is set to 25 GBClick on the Finish button.

Cursor on Ubuntu RunningClick on Try or Install Ubuntu.

Let us click on Specify virtual hard disk dropdown.


Notice that Disk Size is set to 25 GB by default.

We will keep it as it is and click the Finish button at the bottom.

Ubuntu Running window appears.I will click on Try or Install Ubuntu option.

Ubuntu 24.04Cursor on Welcome to UbuntuCursor on Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS. Ubuntu 24.04 installation will begin now.

Welcome to Ubuntu window appears.Note that the heading changes to Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS.The Copying files process may take some time.

Cursor on Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS is installed and ready to use.

Click on user name which is spokenEnter Password.

We can see Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS is installed and ready to use message.


The system is being configured, it may take some time.


Click on the user name spoken.

Enter password as spoken

We have successfully installed Ubuntu 24.04 on the virtual box.
