To import the MARC file into Koha, I have logged in as a Superlibrarian. |
| Narration only | Please note that if you have not compiled the .mrc file in an earlier tutorial.
You may use the sample file provided in the Code files link to practice this tutorial. |
| Click on Cataloging module | On the Koha staff interface click on the Cataloging module. |
| Point to Cataloging click on Stage records for import | Cataloging page opens.
Click on Stage records for import. |
| Point to Stage MARC records for import | Stage MARC records for import page opens. |
| Point to Upload a file to stage click on Browse | Under the Upload a file to stage section, click on Browse adjacent to the File. |
| Point to File Upload
From the left side panel click on Downloads |
File Upload window opens.
From the left panel click on Downloads. |
| Point to TestData.mrc in Downloads folder | Locate the TestData.mrc file.
Recall, we had created this file in one of the earlier tutorials. |

Click on Select button |
Select the TestData.mrc file.
At the top right side of the window, click on the Select button. |

We can see the TestData.mrc is selected. |
| Click on Upload file button | Click on the Upload file button. |
| Point to Upload progress bar in brown color | We can see the Upload progress bar. |
| Cursor on Upload is complete 100% | Once the Upload is 100% complete we are prompted to fill in some details. |
| Point to Comments about this file type Book Data | Now go to the Settings section.
In the field Comments about this file, type Book Data. |

Note that the remaining fields of this section are auto-filled by Koha. |
Point to Look for existing records in catalog?

Scroll down to the Look for existing records in catalog section.
In this section Koha auto-filled the following fields. So we will leave it as it is. |
| Point to Check for embedded item record data
Cursor on 1. Yes 2. No |
Under the Check for embedded item record data section we can see two radio buttons.
1.Yes and 2.No Koha by default, selected Yes. So, we will keep it as it is, and leave the remaining fields as such. |
| Click on Stage for import at the bottom of the page

At the bottom of the page, click on the Stage for import button.
MARC staging page opens. The text highlighted in blue box says The job has been enqueued. You can see a Job progress bar. Once the progress is 100%complete the bar color changes to green. |

Click on View batch link |
After the progress is 100% finished click on View batch link. |

Manage staged MARC records page opens.
You may see different Batch numbers on your machine. |

On this page, Koha fills the following fields with the values shown here. |

Note that the following fields are also auto-filled by Koha.
You may change as per your requirement from their respective drop-downs. I am keeping them as such. At the bottom of this section we can see the Apply different matching rules button. You may click on this button to avoid the duplication of the records. I will skip this button and move ahead. |

Select Book |
Now locate the New record framework and select Books from the drop down. |
| Narration only | Scroll down, we can see the list of books that we are going to import. |
| Click on Import this batch into the catalog | Click on Import this batch into the catalog button. |

The text highlighted in blue box says The job has been enqueued.
Once the progress is 100% complete, a new page Details of job opens. In case the Status is showing Started, click on the Refresh button. Here we can see the Status of imported data has Finished. |
