Pre-requisites

  • You should have knowledge of Library Science
To follow this tutorial, you should have knowledge of Library Science.
Login with Superlibrarian account

Username - Bella

Password - Library@1

Choose Library as Spoken Tutorial Library.

Click on Login

To create a spine label batch in Koha I have already logged in as a Superlibrarian.
Click on Cataloging module On the Koha homepage click on the Cataloging module.
Highlight Cataloging page The Cataloging page opens.
Cursor on Tools >> Choose #Label Creator Now go to the Tools section and click on Label Creator.

Click on New dropdown>> Label batch Click on the New dropdown and select Label batch.

  • Enter by barcode
  • Enter by itemnumber

Highlight Add by barcode(s) or itemnumbers(s) textbox

  • One number per line
  • Leave empty to add via item search (itemnumber)

click on the Add Item(s)

Here we can see two options like:
  • Enter by barcode and
  • Enter by itemnumber

For now we will choose the first option.

So check the checkbox adjacent to Enter by barcodeif not selected by default.

Now in the Add by barcode(s) or itemnumbers(s) textbox, enter the following barcodes as shown here.

Click on the Add Item(s) button at the bottom.

  • +Add item(s)
  • Save description
  • Remove selected items
  • - batch
  • Remove duplicates
  • Export selected items
  • Export full batch

Click on the Export full batch

Select a template to be applied>>Spine Sample

Select a layout to be applied>>Spine Layout

Enter starting label position (for PDF) : 1

Click on the Export

This will change the page name to Edit label batch 1.

Scrolling down, we can see Items in batch number 1 section with the results of the barcodes we entered earlier.

Just above the Items in batch number 1 section we can see the following options.

For now, we will choose the Export full batch option.

A popup window Export labels opens with the heading Label printing or exporting.

For the field Select a template to be applied.

From the drop down select Spine Template if not selected by default.

For the field Select a layout to be applied.

From the drop down select Spine Layout.

For Enter starting label position (for PDF) type 1 or as per your requirement.

Now click on the Export button at the bottom of the window.

  • Download as PDF
  • Download as CSV
  • Download as XML

Click on Download as PDF

A popup window opens with the heading Label printing or exporting.

Click on the following links to download the exported batch(es).

Under the Label batch number 1 we can see the following file formats to print the barcodes.

For now we will click on Download as PDF.

With this the printable barcodes are ready.

Now close this newly opened tab.

And click on the Done button to close this popup window.
