Pre-requisites |
To follow this tutorial, you should have
* Koha installed on your system and
If not, refer to the Koha Installation tutorial on this site. Also, you should have knowledge of Library Science. |
Show Koha login interface | Let us switch to the Koha interface. |
Username as Bella and Password as Library@1.
Click on Log in |
To set currency, we have to login as superlibrarian.
So, I will type the username as Bella and the password as Library@1. From the library field drop down select Spoken Tutorial Library. Now click on Log in button. If you had given a different username and password, then type that. |
Show Koha staff Interface | The Koha staff interface opens. |
Show Koha interface >> Koha Administration | Click on the Koha Administration module. |
Highlight Koha Administration | The Koha Administration page opens. |
Go to the section Acquisition parameters
Click on- Currencies and exchange rates |
Now scroll down to the Acquisition parameters section.
Click on Currencies and exchange rates. |
Currencies and exchange rates page | Currencies and exchange rates page opens.
Notice the message in the yellow color box. It says No active currency is defined Please edit one currency and mark it as active. |
Click on + New currency | Now click on Add New currency. |

Enter details:

Since our library is in India,
|
Cursor on ISO code: | Next, enter the ISO code as INR. |
Cursor on the checkbox for Last updated: Space separation between symbol and value | The Last updated shows the date of currency setup.
I will leave the field for Space separation between symbol and value as it is. |
Cursor on the checkbox for Last updated: Active | To activate the currency, select the checkbox.
Note that an active currency is the main currency to use in the library. Since my library is in India, Rupee will be used as an active currency. |
Click Submit | Click on the Submit button at the bottom of the page. |
Currencies and exchange rates page | Currencies and exchange rates page opens. |
Cursor on Success message | A message at top, highlighted in blue text says, Currency added successfully. |

On this page under the tab Currency, the details for Rupee appear.
If needed, the same can be edited as well. |
Cursor on Column
Click on ISO code |
Go to the right side of the page.
Click on the Columns button with a gear icon. From the dropdown, click on ISO code to make it active. We can see the ISO Code has turned green. To close the dropdown, click anywhere on the page. Here, the ISO Code column for Rupee appears in the table. |
Cursor on the ISO code | This ISO code will be used when importing MARC files via the staging tools.
The tool will attempt to find and use the price of the currently active currency. |
Click on edit for the Currency | To edit the Currency, under the Actions column click on Edit.

Cursor on Modify currency | Modify currency RUPEE page opens.
You may change the value of Rate and Symbol. Here, I am not making any changes. |
Click on Submit at the bottom of the page. | So I will click on Cancel at the bottom of the page. |
Cursor on Currencies and exchange rates | This will bring us back to Currencies and exchange rates page. |
