01:08 | I have opened the Marble interface. |
01:12 | Go to Map View and select OpenStreetMap. |
01:17 | I will hide Overview map, Compass and Scale bar for better view of the map. |
01:26 | I will select Flat view option from the drop-down. |
01:31 | Let us hide latitudes and longitudes for better visibility of the map. |
01:37 | Go to the Legend panel and un-check Coordinate Grid checkbox. |
01:45 | Let us make the Edit Maps panel visible if it is not seen on the interface. |
01:51 | Click on the Settings menu and select Panels. |
01:56 | From the sub-menu, select Edit Maps option. |
02:01 | In the Edit Maps panel we see some icons. |
02:07 | Let us first learn to add a placemark on the map. |
02:12 | Let us go to our home location Mumbai. |
02:16 | We will add a placemark on the location of IIT Bombay. |
02:21 | Zoom in and locate IIT Bombay. |
02:27 | Go to Edit Maps panel and click on Add Placemark icon. |

02:38 | In the Name field type the name as IIT Bombay. |

02:47 | Select Color window opens. |
02:50 | From the colour box, I will select dark blue colour. |

04:23 | In the Name field type the name as Kerala |
04:28 | Let us select colours for Lines and Area of the polygon. |

04:40 | From the colour box, I will select red colour for Lines |
04:45 | Click the on the OK button. |
04:48 | We see a Width drop-down button. |
04:52 | We can select the line width here. I will choose the line width as 1.5. |

05:07 | From the colour box, I will select magenta for Area.
Click on the OK button. |
05:15 | Let us resize and place the dialog box to the left side of the interface.
Now click on Nodes tab. |
05:26 | Node is a point on the map. |
05:29 | It specifies the longitude and latitude of a particular place. |
05:35 | Let us now start marking Nodes to draw a polygon on the area of Kerala. |
05:42 | To mark the area with nodes, click anywhere on the boundary of Kerala. |
05:48 | Keep clicking all along the boundary to complete the full area of Kerala. |
05:58 | Click on the OK button at the bottom of the dialog box. |
06:03 | After marking all the nodes, Kerala appears in magenta colour. |

Highlight Karnataka state using the Add polygon option. |
06:20 | Next icon is Add path. |
06:23 | If we wish to add some lines or path on the map we can use Add path tool. |
06:30 | We will add a path from Pune to Solapur on the map. |
06:35 | Locate Pune and Solapur on the map. |
06:39 | Click on Add Path icon. |
06:42 | Add path dialog box opens on the interface. |
06:46 | In the Name field I will type the name as Path hyphen 1. |
06:52 | Next we will select colour and width for our path. |
06:57 | Click on the Color button under Lines. |
07:01 | From the colour box,I will select blue colour.
Click on the Ok button. |
07:08 | Click on the Width drop-down button. |
07:11 | I will choose the colour width as 1.5. |
07:16 | Let us resize and drag the dialog box to the left side of the interface. |
07:22 | Click on the Nodes tab in the dialog box. |
07:26 | Then start marking the nodes one by one from Pune to Solapur. |
07:32 | Click on the OK button at the bottom of the dialog box. |
07:37 | Notice that a path is marked from Pune to Solapur on the map. |
07:43 | Let us save all the annotations we have made on this map. |
07:48 | Click on Save Annotation File icon. |
07:52 | Save Annotation FIle dialog box opens on the interface. |
07:57 | Select a location to save the file. |
08:01 | I will select Desktop folder. |
08:05 | In the File name field type the name as Annotation hyphen 1 dot kml. |
08:13 | Please note that file format should be.kml or osm. |
08:20 | Click on the Save button in the dialog box. |
08:24 | Let us check our annotation file. |
08:28 | I will close this Marble application. |
08:31 | Go to the Desktop folder. |
08:34 | Annotation hyphen 1 dot kml file is saved on the Desktop. |
08:40 | To open the file, right-click on the file. |
08:44 | From the context menu select Open with Marble option. |
08:49 | Notice that all annotations made on the map have been saved in this file. |
