Slide#4 Finance options for Biogas It should be known that- we can either self-finance or avail bank loan to build the biogas plant.	Before we begin, it should be known that- we can either self-finance or avail bank loan to build the Biogas plant.
Slide#5 Finance options for Biogas Budget for building a Biogas plant.	One should be also aware about the budget for building a Biogas plant.
[[Image:]]	The approx. cost for building the Biogas plant is from Rs 20,000 to Rs 23,000/-
Insert image of KVIC office[[Image:]]	The first step to get a Biogas plant built is - Visiting Khadi and Village Industries Commision (KVIC) office of the respective district. This office is also known as KVIC
	Each KVIC has a Rural Energy Technical department.
[[Image:]]	Meet the Rural Energy Technician i.e. RET in the mentioned department.
[[Image:]]	Request the RET to make a visit to the proposed Biogas plant site.
[[Image:]]	Next, the RET will visit and inspect the prerequisite(s) required to avail the loan.
Slide#6 Pre-requisite List of pre-requisite(s) to avail loan is as follows: Availability of land. Adequate supply of water Approx. quantity of available solid waste Approx. number and age of cattle Applicant’s Bank account/loan account	List of pre-requisite(s) to avail loan is as follows:
[[Image:]]	Availability of land. For eg: 12ft x 16ft land is required for building 12ft x 8ft of Biogas plant. Adequate supply of water for daily feeding of the Biogas plant.
[[Image:]] [[Image:]] [[Image:]]	Approx. quantity of Solid waste either in the form of cow dung and /or the bio-degradable waste. Pls. note, quantity of waste for the plant is directly proportional to the size of the plant. For example, 25 kgs of solid waste and 25 litres of water is required for a 12ft x 8 ft of Biogas plant.
[[Image:]]	The RET will also check the number and age of cattle For eg: minimum 2 cows producing an average of 12 kg dung are required for a 2 cubic meter Biogas plant This check is to ensure supply of 25 kgs of dung to the Biogas plant.
	Lastly, the RET will check- the Bank account/loan account of the applicant.
[[Image:]]	If all the prerequisites are met, then the RET issues a technical feasibility certificate.
[[Image:]] [[Image:]]	Once the technical feasibility certificate is issued, visit the nearest bank to avail loan.
[[Image:]] [[Image:]] [[Image:]]	You may visit banks such as Private banks like - IDBI bank, Canara bank, Union Bank of India
[[Image:]][[Image:]] [[Image:]][[Image:]] [[Image:]]	* Co-operative banks like - Saraswat bank, Dombivli Nagari Sahakari bank, South Canara District Central Cooperative bank (known as SCDCC), Gramin bank of different states, Development Credit bank (Known as DCB) etc.
Slide# 7 Finance options for Biogas What is the amount of loan one can get from the bank?	So, what is the amount of loan one can get from the bank?
[[Image:]]	You will be surprised to know that you can avail 100% of loan from a bank.
Slide 8 Finance options for Biogas The following will vary from bank to bank---- Loan amount Sanction period Interest of loan Loan repayment	However, it is to be noted that the following will vary from bank to bank. Loan amount, Sanction period Interest of loan Loan repayment
[[Image:]] [[Image:]]	Loan formalities start with filling up of the forms such as the ‘Loan Application Form’. The RET officer will help you in filling the form.
[[Image:]][[Image:]] [[Image:]]	As shown- the following details have to be filled in the application form- Purpose of applying for the loan Name and Address of the applicant Resident of the respective village since year _____ Nature of activity Age and Gender Category-SC/ST/OBC And other such details.

Slide 9 Finance options for Biogas List of documents to be attached with loan application form:	Along with the loan application form, the other documents to be attached are -

[[Image:]]	Document of landholding
[[Image:]]	Photocopy of Ration card
[[Image:]]	Proof of annual income
Slide 10 Finance options for Biogas After filling the form, submit it to the bank officer for scrutiny.	After filling the form, we have to submit it to the bank officer for scrutiny.
[[Image:]]	We will receive the Branch Manager/Inspecting Officer’s Reference and Loan Approval.
Slide 11 Finance options for Biogas Cost factors for building the plant?	Let's now talk about the cost factors for building the plant.
[[Image:]][[Image:]] [[Image:]][[Image:]] [[Image:]] [[Image:]][[Image:]]	The cost for building the plant depends upon factors such as - Cost of raw material. Mason(s) charges. Transportation cost from the hardware shop to the plant site.
[[Image:]]	The raw material and transportation cost along with mason charges may vary from region to region.
Slide 12 Finance options for Biogas Approximate break-up of budget	The approximate break-up of budget is as follows:
[[Image:]][[Image:]] [[Image:]] Rs. 4,000	Approx. Rs.4,000/- for the mason and his labourers.
[[Image:]] Rs. 1,300	Approx. Rs.1,300/- for the Biogas burner stove.
[[Image:]][[Image:]] [[Image:]][[Image:]][[Image:]][[Image:]]	Approx. Rs. 15,000/- for the raw material.
[[Image:]] [[Image:]]	Approx. Rs. 2000/- as transportation charges from the hardware shop to the plant site.
Slide 13 Finance options for Biogas Good news Government of India provides subsidies to build a Biogas plant	A good news for all those who plan to build a Biogas plant is that Government of India provides subsidies to build a Biogas plant
[[Image:]] [[Image:]]N N nn	The subsidies provided to applicants are : Rs 9,000/- for General Category. Rs 11,000/- for SC/ST Category and Rs 17,000/- for North-Eastern States.
[[Image:]] (Graphics) Insert the image of biogas plant attached with toilet.	An extra subsidy of Rs1,200/- is given if toilet is attached to the Biogas plant.
[[Image:]] [[Image:]] [[Image:]]	To avail the subsidy, we need to fill a form after the Biogas plant is built. This form is available with the local Gram Panchayat office.
