Welcome to the Spoken Tutorial on Features of Moodle. |
Switch to slide no 2 | In the coming few minutes, we'll talk briefly about the features of Moodle that would help you in the teaching and learning process. Some of these facilities are available to the teacher only and not to the student. In the coming tutorials of Moodle, we are going to learn more on the privileges of a teacher and the privileges of a student. |
Switch to the internet browser | Since I am a teacher, I am logging in as a teacher here. As you login to Moodle you get to see the first page as the Courses Page. Choose your course. Choose the correct semester. Inside the course, choose your subject. The page for any subject would look like this. The left panel has People, activities and administration blocks. The people panel has a link for participants. Clicking on this link shows you the list of participants for this subject. The table shows a brief profile of the participants and the last time they logged in.
The activities block has the following links: Assignments: Clicking on this link will take you to the Assignment window having a table on the details of all the assignments for this subject. This table would have the assignment name, type, due date and the submitted answeres (if any). Forum: It shows the list of all the forums that the logged-in faculty member has access to. Quizzes: Clicking on this link will take you to the Quiz window having a table on the details of all the quizzes for this subject. This table would have the quiz name, closing time and the number of attempts made on the quiz. Resources: Clicking on this link will take you to the Resources window having a list of all the resources for this subject. The middle panel would show all the course material uploaded by the teacher. It would have reading material, assignments, quiz, wiki etc. All these resources would be uploaded session-wise. Number of sessions can be increased or decreased as required by the faculty ONLY. To download any of these material, you can click on them. To make changes to any of the resource, you need to click on "Turn Editing On" button from the top right corner fo the page. This button would also be visible to the Faculty ONLY. To move a resource to some other session number (possible only for the faculty), click on the top-down arrow key. A number of boxes would appear. These boxes are the places where this resource can be placed. Click inside the correct box. The resource would be placed there. To edit a resource (possible only for the faculty), click on the update icon. A new window will appear. Make the required changes and click on the "Save and return to course" button. To delete a resource (possible only for the faculty), click on the X icon. To hide a resource (possible only for the faculty), click on the "eye" icon. There is a News Forum on the top of the middle panel. This comes in all the subjects by default. On the right side, the top shows the list of upcoming events and important dates. There is a calender. Important dates for the subject are marked in the calender, such as assignment submission date or the date for a test etc. It is also possible to mark personal dates in this calender such as friend's birthdays or any other events. At the bottom of the right-most panel, the last activities done by the user are shown. Also in the recent activities, any changes done on the site by any participant for this course are shown. |
