Slide Number 1 Title Slide	Hello Everyone. Welcome to this tutorial on Installation of Audacity in Linux OS.
Slide Number 2 Learning Objectives	In this tutorial, we will learn about installation of Audacity Lame library and FFmpeg library in the Linux Operating System.
Slide Number 3 System Requirement	To record this tutorial I am using Ubuntu Linux OS version 14.04 Audacity version 2.1.2 And a working Internet connection
Slide Number 4 About Audacity	Audacity is a free and open source software. It is used for multi-track audio recording and editing. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux and other operating systems.
Narration only	Now let’s learn how to install Audacity in Linux OS.
Narration only	Audacity comes pre-installed in Ubuntu Linux OS version 14.04 and above.
Slide 5 Audacity Installation in Linux OS	However, if it is not installed on your machine, follow any one of the below methods: Go to the terminal and type            sudo apt-get install audacity            and press Enter.       2.  Go to Ubuntu Software Center or Synaptic Package Manager, search for Audacity and install it. Point out the shortcut icon in the Launcher Bar Click on Dash Home, type Audacity and click on it	To open Audacity in Linux OS, click on Dash Home at the top left corner of the Desktop, And type Audacity and click on the icon.

Narration only	To cross-verify the installation, we will do a small demo recording.
Click on the record button	Click on the button with the red dot.
Narration only	Narrate a sentence - For eg: Welcome to Audacity.
Point out the yellow button	Now, click on the yellow button to stop the recording
Point out the waveforms	If you see waveforms below, then your Audacity installation is successful.
Close the window	Let’s close this window now, without saving the recording.

Narration only	Some important things to know about Audacity.
Slide Number 6 File Format of Audacity or Audio File Format	By default Audacity, will export the audio files in few formats only. Like .ogg, .mp3, etc. A plugin called "Lame" is needed in Audacity, to export into mp3 format, in Linux OS. It also uses the "FFmpeg" plugin to be able to read/import .mp4 files in Linux OS.
Narration only	Now let us learn about Lame installation in Linux OS.
Slide Number 7 Installation of Lame library in Linux OS	Lame allows Audacity to export audio. In Linux OS, Audacity has built-in Lame support for .mp3 export. Hence a separate installation of Lame is not required.
Narration only	So, you should be able to export to mp3 format in Audacity in Linux OS.

Slide Number 8 Installation of FFmpeg library in Linux OS	FFmpeg library allow Audacity to import audio from video files. In Linux OS, Audacity has built-in FFmpeg Library support. Hence a separate installation of the same, is not required.
Narration only	This means that you should be able to import audio from video files using Audacity in Linux OS.
Narration only	Let me show you a small demo of the same.
Narration only	Note: I will import the audio from a video file named as Introduction-to-LibreOffice-Writer.mov in my Desktop.
Click on Dash Home and type Audacity Click on Audacity from the display list	Now, click on the Dash Home and type Audacity. And click on Audacity icon.
Point out the empty screen	This will open an empty Audacity project on your screen.
Go to the Main menu, Click on File and click on Import and then click on Audio	Go to the Main menu, click on the File. Now click on Import and then on Audio.
Point out the dialog box Choose Desktop >> Choose Introduction-to-LibreOffice-Writer.mov	A dialog box will appear. It will ask you to choose the location of the file. I will choose Desktop and select my file Introduction-to-LibreOffice-Writer.mov.
Click on Open	Then click on Open.
Narration only Point out the audio track	It will import only the audio from this particular video. You can see the audio track here.
