Open Inkscape | Let us open Inkscape.
|
Click on Star tool >> Draw a star >> | Click on the Star tool. Draw a star.
|
Change width and height to 40 | Change the Width and Height parameters to 40. |
Go to Edit >> Clone >> Create Tiled clones | Go to Edit. Click on Clone and then on Create Tiled clones. |
Point to the dialog box | A new dialog box opens up.
|
Point to the star | Let us now create a simple circle pattern using the star shape.
|
Click on symmetry tab >> simple translation | Under symmetry tab there are various methods.
|
Change rows and columns to 1 and 40 | Change the rows and columns parameters to 1 and 40 respectively. |
Shift tab >> Change X parameter to -100 | Next go to Shift tab.
|
Go to Rotation tab >> Change angle to 10 | Go to Rotation tab.
|
Click on Create | Now click on Create. Observe a circle pattern with star is formed.
|
Point to all the stars | Now if you want to make any change of all stars, it is enough if we do it on the original star.
|
Select and scale the original star | Let me scale the original star, observe all the stars are getting scaled.
|
Point to the patterns | You can use the other options under Create Tiled clones to make beautiful patterns. Let me keep this star circle aside.
|
Point to the patterns | Next we will learn how to create pattern along a path.
|
Draw a rounded rectangle | Select Rectangle tool and draw a rounded rectangle. Color it green
|
Change the width to 540 and height 250 | On the Tool controls bar change the Width to 540 and Height to 250.
|
Draw a star >> Width and Height to 100 x 100 | Next draw a pattern using the Star tool.
|
Place in on the top left of the rectangle | Place it on the top left of the rectangle. |
Select both shapes >> Extension menu >> Generate from path >> Pattern along Path | Select both the shapes. Go to Extension menu.

If needed if you can change the parameters. Let me keep as it is. | |
Click on Apply | Click on Apply.

Point to the canvas | Next we will create another pattern using Path effects.
|
Select Bezier tool >> Draw a wavy path | Select Bezier tool. Draw a wavy path.
|
Go to Path menu >> Click on Path effects. | Go to Path menu. Click on Path Effects Editor.
|
Click on Apply new effect | Click on Apply new effect drop down menu.
Observe there are various effects available.

Select Spiro spline | Let me select Spiro spline. Click on Add.
|
Select Sketch >> Add | Next select Sketch and click on Add. Observe the effect.
|
Point to Tool options | Below you can find Tool options to edit. |
Select the shape and keep it aside | Select both the shape and keep it aside.

Point to Spray tool | Next we will learn to create a tree pattern using Spray tool.

Select Bezier tool >> draw trunk >> draw leaf | Select Bezier tool. Draw a trunk. Color it brown.
|
Select Spray tool >> Create pattern | Select Spray tool. Click on Leaf.
|
Point to the tree | Observe a tree shape is formed. Now select it and keep it aside. |
Lastly we will learn how to align nodes using Align and Distribute. | |
Click on Bezier tool >> Draw zig zag lines | Click on Bezier tool. Draw lines up and down in a zig zag way.

Go to Object menu >> Align and Distribute | Go to Object menu. Click on Align and Distribute.
|
Click on Nodes tool >> Select all >> Click on first option | Click on Nodes tool. Select all the top nodes.
Under the Nodes tab click on the first option. |
Point to nodes | Observe the selected nodes are aligned horizontally.

Select the first top node and the first end node | In a similar way do for the bottom nodes.
Next select the first top node and the first end node. |
Click on the second option | Now click on the second option under nodes tab.

Select all the nodes >> Click on the third option | Now, select all the nodes. Click on the third option. |
Point to nodes | The space between the nodes are distributed horizontally. |
Click on the last option | Next click on the last option.
