Open Inkscape | Let us open Inkscape. |
Click on Text tool | First we will learn how to create text on path. Click on Text tool. |
Type “Spoken Tutorial is an Audio-Video tutorial” | Type the sentence “Spoken Tutorial is an Audio-Video tutorial” on the canvas.

Click on Bezier tool
|
Recall that we had learnt to create path using the Bezier tool. Click on it.
|
Select both | Select both the text and the path. |
Go to Text menu.
|
Go to Text menu and click on Put on Path.
|
Click anywhere on the canvas to deselect all. | |
Click on Text tool | Select the Text tool and click on the starting point of the text. |
Press Space bar several times | Give some spaces by pressing space bar to adjust the text on the path.

Click and drag the handles
|
Now select the path. Using the handles resize the path.
|
Go to Text menu >> Remove from Path | To remove the text from the path, Go to Text menu.
Click on Remove from Path. |
Press Ctrl + Z | Observe the path is now removed. Press Ctrl + Z to undo this action.

Next we will learn how to create text on a shape. | |
Create a hexagon. | Using Polygon tool create a hexagon. Now we will insert some text inside the hexagon. |
Open LO Writer >> Press Ctrl + A >> Press Ctrl + C | I will copy text from LibreOffice writer that i had saved already.

Click on the Text tool.
|
Now come back to Inkscape. Click on Text tool.
|
Select both | Select both the text and the hexagon. |
Go to Text menu. Click on Flow into Frame | Now go to Text menu. Click on Flow into Frame. Now our text is filled inside the hexagon. |
Go to Text menu >> Click on Unflow | To remove the Flow, Go to Text menu. Click on Unflow.

Now we will learn how to create text on image. | |
Go to File and Import. | First let us import an image. Go to File and Import. |
Import an image | I have saved the image in Pictures folder. Click on Open.
|
Select the image >> Object menu >> Pattern >> Object to Pattern | Now we have the image on our canvas. Select it. Go to Object menu.
|
Type “SPOKEN TUTORIAL” >> Make it Bold. | Using Text tool type “SPOKEN TUTORIAL”. Make it Bold.

Object menu >> Fill and Stroke
|
Go to Object menu. Click on Fill and Stroke.
|
Click on Node tool
|
To adjust the image now click on Node tool.
|
Click and rotate the circular handle
|
Click on the circular handle to rotate the image on the text.
|
Next we will learn how to create text in a perspective. | |
Type “SPOKEN TUTORIAL”
|
Type “SPOKEN”.
|
Select Bezier curve >.
|
Now let us drawing the path. So, select Bezier curve.
|
Select both text and path | Select both the word “TUTORIAL” and the rectangle path. |
Go to Extensions >> Modify Path >>Perspective | Go to Extensions, click on Modify Path and then on Perspective. |
Point to the transformed text | Now we can see the text appears in perspective. Note the text takes the starting point and direction of the path.

Next let us create the text in another perspective. | |
Type “SPOKEN TUTORIAL”
|
Type “TUTORIAL” again.
|
Draw a path starting from left top corner | Draw a similar perspective rectangle path using Bezier tool.
|
Go to Extensions >> Modify Path >>Perspective | Select both. Go to Extensions, Modify Path and then on Perspective. |
Point to the transformed text | Now the text appears from top to bottom.

Now we will learn about cut out text.

Type “INKSCAPE” | Type the word “INKSCAPE”. Create a rectangle. Keep the text above the rectangle. |
Select both. Path menu >> Difference | Select both. Go to Path menu. Select Difference. |
Let us learn one more type of creating cut out text. | |
Type “INKSCAPE”

Again type the word “INKSCAPE”
|
Go to Stroke paint >> Flat color | Under Stroke paint tab and click on Flat color. |
Go to Stroke style
|
Go to Stroke style tab. Change the width parameter to 5
|
Go to Fill tab >> No paint | Go to Fill tab and click on No paint.
