00:01 Welcome to the Spoken Tutorial on Set Currency.
00:06 In this tutorial, we will learn how to set Currency in Koha.
00:13 To record this tutorial, I am using:

Ubuntu Linux Operating System 16.04 and

Koha version 16.05.

00:26 To follow this tutorial, you should have knowledge of Library Science.
00:33 To practice this tutorial, you should have Koha installed on your system.

And, you should have Admin access in Koha.

00:42 Please refer to the Koha spoken tutorial series on this website for more details.
00:49 To start with, Login with Superlibrarian username Bella and her password.
00:58 Then click on Koha Administration.
01:03 A new page opens up.
01:06 Under the section Acquisition parameters, click on Currencies and exchange rates.
01:15 Note that this data is not updated automatically.
01:20 Therefore, it is important to update the data. This will also help to keep the correct accounting details.
01:30 Now, click on plus New currency.
01:35 In the new page that opens, fill in the mandatory details like-

Currency:, Rate: and Symbol:.

01:47 Since my library is in India, I will enter Rupee for Currency,

1 for Rate and

the Rupee (₹) symbol.

02:00 Next, enter the ISO code: as INR.
02:05 To activate the currency, click the check-box. Last updated shows the date of currency setup.
02:14 Click on Submit button at the bottom of the page.
02:20 In the new page that opens, under the tab Currency, the details for Rupee appears.
02:27 If the need be, the same can be edited as well.
02:32 For Assignment:

Set any currency as per your requirement but do not make it 'Active'.

02:41 Let’s go back to the Koha interface.
02:45 On the same page, click on the tab- Column visibility.
02:50 From the options, click on the tab ISO code.
02:55 The ISO column for Rupee appears in the table.
03:00 Remember that the entered ISO code will be used when importing MARC files via the staging tools.
03:09 The tool will attempt to find and use the price of the currently active currency.
03:16 To edit the Currency, click on Edit option for that particular Currency. I will click on Edit for the currency USD.
03:29 Modify currency page opens up.
03:32 You may change the value of Rate and Symbol. I will leave it as they are.
03:40 Note that I will not click in the check-box for the field ‘Active’.
