00:01 | Welcome to the Spoken Tutorial on Set Currency. |
00:06 | In this tutorial, we will learn how to set Currency in Koha. |
00:13 | To record this tutorial, I am using:
Ubuntu Linux Operating System 16.04 and Koha version 16.05. |
00:26 | To follow this tutorial, you should have knowledge of Library Science. |
00:33 | To practice this tutorial, you should have Koha installed on your system.
And, you should have Admin access in Koha. |

00:49 | To start with, Login with Superlibrarian username Bella and her password. |
00:58 | Then click on Koha Administration. |
01:03 | A new page opens up. |
01:06 | Under the section Acquisition parameters, click on Currencies and exchange rates. |
01:15 | Note that this data is not updated automatically. |
01:20 | Therefore, it is important to update the data. This will also help to keep the correct accounting details. |
01:30 | Now, click on plus New currency. |
01:35 | In the new page that opens, fill in the mandatory details like-
Currency:, Rate: and Symbol:. |
01:47 | Since my library is in India, I will enter Rupee for Currency,
1 for Rate and the Rupee (₹) symbol. |
02:00 | Next, enter the ISO code: as INR. |
02:05 | To activate the currency, click the check-box. Last updated shows the date of currency setup. |
02:14 | Click on Submit button at the bottom of the page. |
02:20 | In the new page that opens, under the tab Currency, the details for Rupee appears. |
02:27 | If the need be, the same can be edited as well. |
02:32 | For Assignment:
Set any currency as per your requirement but do not make it 'Active'. |
02:41 | Let’s go back to the Koha interface. |
02:45 | On the same page, click on the tab- Column visibility. |
02:50 | From the options, click on the tab ISO code. |
02:55 | The ISO column for Rupee appears in the table. |
03:00 | Remember that the entered ISO code will be used when importing MARC files via the staging tools. |
03:09 | The tool will attempt to find and use the price of the currently active currency. |
03:16 | To edit the Currency, click on Edit option for that particular Currency. I will click on Edit for the currency USD. |
03:29 | Modify currency page opens up. |
03:32 | You may change the value of Rate and Symbol. I will leave it as they are. |
03:40 | Note that I will not click in the check-box for the field ‘Active’. |
03:46 | An active currency is the main currency to use in the library. |
03:51 | Since my library is in India, Rupee will be used as active currency. |
03:57 | Next, click on Submit at the bottom of the page. |
04:02 | The same page Currencies and exchange rates re-opens. |
04:08 | Now log out from your Koha Superlibrarian account. |
04:13 | To do so, first go to the top right corner, click on Spoken Tutorial Library. |
04:21 | Then from the drop-down, select Log out. |
