Slide 1 : Title Slide: Introduction to Prompting Welcome to this Spoken Tutorial on Introduction to Prompting.
Slide 2 : Learning Objectives  In this tutorial, you will learn, *
Why prompting matters, and
  • How clear instructions improve AI’s outcomes.

Montage of everyday AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, image generators) Let's begin by understanding what prompting means.

In simple words, prompting means telling an AI exactly what you want it to do.

Good prompting skills help you to get the best from AI.

SlideWhat is Prompting? Prompting is a skill of writing clear and specific instructions to AI to get the right output.
Slide – “Understand: Why Clarity Matters”
Visual: Person typing vague prompt vs. clear prompt, side by side
Now, let’s understand why clear prompts matter.
Illustration: A bright, curious child raising their hand eagerly Think of AI as a child who is curious, intelligent, fast, and eager to help.

AI is capable, but it relies on your instructions to perform well.

Close-up: Child listening carefully

Like a child, AI follows instructions literally.
It cannot read your mind or guess your intent.

It follows exactly what you tell it to do.

Scene: Adult telling child vaguely “Clean the room” — child only picks up a few toys
Imagine telling a child, “Clean the room.”
That’s vague.
The child may pick up a few things and think the job is done.
So vague instructions give vague results.
Scene: Adult giving step-by-step instructions — child follows happily
Now, let's think about how to explain the “clean the room” task to a child.

Break it into simple parts and give clear  instructions.

So you can say, “Put all the toys in the box.
Fold the clothes and keep them in the cupboard.

Arrange the books on the shelf.

Now the child knows exactly what to do and does the job well.

Structured guidance and clear steps give better outcomes

Split screen: vague vs clear instruction to child AI works the same way.

A vague prompt gives a vague answer.

A clear prompt gives a desired answer.

Text highlight: “Prompting = giving instructions to AI” Prompting is the art and science of guiding AI to produce desired results.
Show the activities A good AI prompt should do 4 things.
It should say exactly what you want.
For example, put all the toys in the box.
Next, it should give a relevant background.
For example, fold the clothes and keep them in the cupboard.
It should  also mention how the output should appear.
For example,  arrange the books on the shelf.
Finally, it should specify why you need it.
For example, the room should look clean and tidy.
Montage of outputs: text, code, images, tables A good prompt can do tasks like writing, designing, brainstorming, and coding.
It can even help analyze data or create images without coding skills.
Summary Slide
Let’s summarize.
In this tutorial, we learned,
*
Prompting is about giving clear instructions.
  • Clear prompts lead to better AI results.
  • Structured steps make prompts powerful.

Assignment slide
Now, let’s do a small activity.
Take the task, “Pack a school bag.” and,
Write step-by-step instructions for AI.
