To follow this tutorial, you should have knowledge of Library Science.
Narration only Please note that Koha can send email messages to the Serials vendors if there are late issues.

Example

Out of 4 Serial issues the library has received-

  • Only issue numbers 1, 2 and 3
  • Issue no. 4 has not been received
  • In such a case a claim can be sent for issue no.4 that is still to be received
For example:

In case, out of 4 Serial issues the library has received-

  • Only issue numbers 1, 2 and 3
  • And issue no. 4 has not been received

In such case claim can be sent for issue no. 4 that is still to be received.

To configure a claim notice I have already logged in as Superlibrarian.
On the Koha staff interface, click on Serials module On the Koha staff interface click on the Serials module.

Cursor on Serials>>Claims

The Serials page opens.

To the left side of the page under the Serials menu click on Claims.

Claims page

Cursor on No claims notice defined. Please define one.

Click on Please define one.

The Claims page opens.

On this page the text highlighted in yellow says No claims notice defined. Please define one.

Also we can see the Vendor field.

Now click on the Please define one.

Cursor on Notices and slips

Under Notices and Slips locate the tab Select a library:

From the drop down select- Spoken Tutorial Library

A new page Notices and slips opens.

Locate the tab Select a library.

From the drop-down select Spoken Tutorial Library.

Under the tab Select a library >> click on the tab +New notice>>Claim serial issue Under the tab Select a library click on Add New notice.

From the drop down select Claim serial issue.

Go to the tab Library >> select Spoken Tutorial Library

New notice page opens.

Notice that Koha auto-selects the field for Library as All libraries.

So click on the Library field, and from the drop down select Spoken Tutorial Library.

Koha module>> drop down select Claim serial issue. For the Koha module field, from the drop down select Claim serial issue if not selected by default.
In Code: type Claim In the Code field type Claim.
In Name: type Unsupplied Issues In the Name field type Unsupplied Issues.
Click on Email

In the field for Message subject: >> Type Unsupplied Issues

Next, click on the Email section to expand the email field.

Scrolling down in the field for Message subject type Unsupplied Issues.

Cursor on Message body: >> Type the email as:

Subject: Awaiting Journal issues

Dear Sir/Madam,

Following Journal issues have not been received by the Spoken Tutorial Library.

However, if it has been supplied please confirm with the proof of invoice.
