Please download and extract the file. Make a copy and use it while practising. |
Point to the AutoCAD interface. | I have opened the AutoCAD interface. |
Click on the save file. | Let us open the file created using AutoCAD.
Here is the drawing that we have created. |
Let us now save the file. | |
Click on the menu(A button).
Select Save As. Point to the dialog box. |
Click on the menu and select Save As.
Save Drawing As dialog box opens. |
From Files of Type drop down select AutoCAD 2018 DXF file format. | From the Files of Type drop down select AutoCAD 2018 DXF file format. |
Type file name as AutoCAD to FreeCAD.
Click on the Save button. |
Type file name as AutoCAD to FreeCAD.
Click on the Save button. |
Now let us open the FreeCAD window. | |
Click on Create New icon | Click on Create New icon to open a new window. |
Click on the Start drop down
Select Draft. |
Select the workbench as Draft. |
Click on the File menu and select Import. | Click on the File menu and select Import. |
Point to the Import dialog box. | Import File dialog box opens. |
Select the AutoCAD to FreeCAD file and click on the Open button. | Select the AutoCAD to FreeCAD file and click on the Open button. |
Point to the diagram on the FreeCAD interface. | The file is imported to the FreeCAD interface. |
Point to the shapes in the Combo view. | We cannot edit this diagram as it shows shapes.
We have to convert all the shapes to wireframe. |
Press CTRL and A keys. | Select all the shapes by pressing CTRL and A keys together. |
Click on the blue colored Upgrade arrow. | Click on the Upgrade arrow to upgrade the shapes to wire. |
Point to the wire in the Combo View. | Now we will convert the wire to sketch. |
Click on the Draft to Sketch icon. | Click on the Draft to Sketch icon.
The wire is converted to sketch. |
Right-click on the Wire to open the context menu.
From the menu select Hide selection. |
Let us hide the wire.
Right-click on the Wire to open the context menu. From the menu select Hide selection. |
Click on the sketch in the combo view. | Click on the sketch to open the drawing in Sketcher mode. |
Click on the Constrain horizontal distance tool.
In the Insert length text box 35 and OK |
Let us measure the distance using the Constrain horizontal distance tool. |
Point to the figure in AutoCAD. | Now let us compare the distance of the same diagram in AutoCAD interface. |
Point to the horizontal distance. | Observe that both the diagrams are exactly same. |
