Point to Search panel. | We have already learnt about different panels in Marble. |
Point on Search panel

We will learn how to search places using the Search panel.
In the Search panel, we can see a search box. |
Point on Search box
Point on binocular icon |
Search box has a binocular icon with drop down arrow button. |
Click on the down arrow button.
Point to Global search and Area search |
Click on the down arrow button to show Global Search and Area Search. |
Point on Global Search | By default Global Search is selected. |
Point on the search box. | Let us enter the name of a place in the search box, to find its location on the map. |
Type China in the search box. | We will search for China on the map.
Type china in the search box. |
Shows all the places starting with C in the list | When we type the alphabet C, all the places starting with C appear below the search box. |
Select China.
Press Enter. |
Now select China from the list.
Press Enter key on the keyboard. |
Point on the cross hair on China.
Rotate and zoom in to navigate China |
Notice that a cross hair appears on the location of China on the map. |
Go to View menu and check Crosshairs option. | If crosshair option is not activated on your interface, go to View menu.
And check Crosshairs option. |
Scroll the mouse wheel.
Rotate and zoom in to navigate China. |
Let us zoom in and navigate to China. |
Point on Chinaand click on it. | After finding the location on the map, left-click on its label. |
Point on the new data sheet on the screen. | Place information data sheet appears on the screen. |
Point on Name and flag of the country | On the top of this data sheet name and flag of the country are shown. |
Point on coordinates, elevation etc. | Next we have Coordinates table.
This table shows information about Longitude, Latitude and Elevation of a place. |
Point on Place description and information appears.
Point on the brief history in the short description. |
Below the table we have Short Description.
In the Short description, a brief history about the country is given. |
Point to the scroll bar.

Data sheet has a scroll-bar to scroll to the bottom of the sheet.

Point on Fact sheet, Population and Area of the country.
Scroll up on the datasheet. |
Now we have Fact sheet table.
It shows Populationand area of the country. I will scroll up the data sheet. |
Click on the x button on the data sheet. | Click on the Close button to close the data sheet. |
Click on the x mark on the right side to clear the search history. | To clear the search history, click on the Clear button in the Search box. |
Scroll the mouse wheel. | I will zoom out to go back to default view on the map. |
Type Mount.
Point on the list of mountains Point on the list of mountains appeared on the search list. |
Let us search for Mount Everest.
I will type Mount Everest in the search box. When we start typing Mount, a list of mountains appears below the search box. |
select Mount Everest from the list.
Press Enter key on the keyboard.

Point on place information data sheet.

Mount Everest is shown the map.
Left-click on its label to show place information data sheet. Let us close this data sheet. |

Click on Chennai and select Add measure points.

Next locate Chennai.
Right click on its label. Context menu appears again. Select Add measure points option. |
Point on the Red line appears on the screen. | A red line, connecting Mumbai and Chennai is shown on the map. |
Point on the red line shows distances in Km. | The distance between Mumbai and Chennai is shown as 1020.5 Km.
This value may slightly change while you are measuring. |
Point on the box below to the overview map, which shows distances in km. | Total distance between these two places is also shown below the Overview map. |
Right click on the map.
From the context menu select, Remove Measure Points. |
To remove the measure points, right click on the map.
Context menu appears. Select Remove Measure Points option. |
Cursor on the map. | Now we do not see the measure points for Mumbai and Chennai. |
