Spatial Data is of two types- Vector Data and Raster Data.

Open Firefox/Chrome web browser. | Open any web browser.

Click on Downloads link
|
Natural Earth data website opens.

Scroll down |
Downloads page opens.

Point towards the scales.
Point towards the details. |
You can see three different scales of dataset.

Under Large scale data >> Click on Cultural button
|
Let us download a dataset for demonstration.

Scroll down the webpage. | A webpage opens.

Click on Download countries tab. | Let us download the country administration boundary files.

Point to the dialog box.

A dialog-box opens, which prompts you to save the file.

Open Downloads folder and point the zip file. | The process of download begins.

Right-click to extract the contents. | Extract the contents of the zip file.

Double-click to open the folder
Point to all the files. |
Double-click on the extracted folder.

Click on layer on the menu bar.
Click on add layer. Click on add vector layer. |
Click on, Layer menu on the menu bar.

Point to Add Vector Layer dialog-box .

Click on Browse.

Under Source heading, click on Browse button.

From the folder, select the file ne_10m_populated_countries.shp
|
From the contents of the folder, select the file with .shp extension.

Click Open in Add vector layer dialog-box.

In the Add vector layer dialog-box, click on Open button.

Click on Project in the menu bar.
|
Save the map.

In the File name text box, type Map-1.
|
In the dialog-box, name the file as Map hyphen 1.

Show the Address bar. | Open the Bhuvan website link in any web browser.
Open Data Archive page opens. |
Point to Select Category>> Satellite/Sensor radio button. | On the left panel under Select Category, select Satellite/Sensor option. |
Select Resourcesat-1: LISS-3.
|
Under Select Subcategory drop down, choose Resourcesat-1: LISS-III option.
|
Cursor on Select Area panel, Bounding Box tab . | Let us download data for Mumbai region.

Type Minimum longitude 72.75 E Type Maximum longitude 73 E Type Minimum latitude 19 N Type Maximum latitude 19.25 N Click select |
For Mumbai region, enter the following data.
Maximum Longitude 73 Minimum Latitude 19 Maximum Latitude 19.25
|
Point to the highlighted tile. | A tile over Mumbai will be highlighted. |
Click Next button.
|
Click on Next button at the bottom of the page.
|
Point on Date of Pass column.
|
Select the most recent imagery by looking into the Date of Pass column.
|
Click on the check box.
|
Click on the check box on this row under Selection for backlog.
|
Click on OK. | Bhuvan will prompt you to login.
Click on OK button. |
A dialog-box opens. | |
Click on New User. | If it is your first time in using Bhuvan, click on New User link to create a new account. |
Point to Account and Profile Information page.
|
Account and Profile Information page opens.
Click on Submit button.
|
Enter username
Enter password Click Login |
I have already completed the registration process.

Click Download from the list of available Tiles against 24Dec15 | Again, in the tiles panel for 24Dec15 row, click on the Download button. |
Point to download dialog-box. | Download of the zip file begins.

Select Save File radio button >> click OK.
|
Select Save File option and click on OK button.
|
Right-click on the folder and select Extract Here option.
|
Extract the contents of the zip file.
|
On the QGIS window,
Click on New icon on the tool bar. |
Let us now open a file in QGIS.
|
Click on Layer>> Add Layer>>Add Raster Layer | Click on Layer on the menu bar.
|
Open GDL Supported Raster Data Source dialog-box opens.

A dialog-box opens.

Select the file 24December15 hyphen BAND2 dot tif

Point to the image on QGIS window. | On QGIS canvas, you will see the raster map of Mumbai region. |
