What are Layers? Layers are like transparent sheets, placed one on the top of another. |
There are three layers to every Draw file. | |
Point to the Layout Layer tab at the bottom.
Circle the Draw page once from top to bottom. |
The Layout layer is displayed by default.
This is where we create most of our graphics. |
Click on the Control Layer. | The Control layer is used to store control elements such as buttons and forms. |
Click on the Dimensions Layer. | The Dimensions layer is used to depict

Let us add some layers to the RouteMap. | |
Click on Layout Layer. | Click on Layout layer. |
Right click >> select Insert Layer | Right click and select Insert layer. |

In the “Name” field type “Layer four”. | In the “Name” field, type “Layer four”. |
Point to the “Title” and “Description” fields. | You can add any title and description that is relevant to your drawing. |

Right-click and select Cut. | Next right-click and select Cut. |
Now click Layer four and paste them there. | Then click on “Layer four” layer and paste them. |
Point to them to show they are pasted in the same places. | They are pasted in the same positions as in the Layout layer. |
Click Layer Four. | Click Layer Four once again. |
Right-click to view the context menu >> Select Modify Layer. | Right-click to view the context menu and select Modify Layer. |

Uncheck the box “Visible” >> Click OK. | Uncheck the box “Visible”.

Let us now learn how to export the file as a PDF and also password protect our Draw file. | |
Switch to the file “Route Map”.
Main menu >> File >> Export to PDF |
First let’s save the Draw file “RouteMap” as a PDF.
From the main menu, select File and click “Export as PDF”. |
PDF options dialog box appears. | The PDF dialog box appears. |
PDF options dialog box. | First, let us set the “General” options. |
Click General | Click the “General” Tab. |
Select Range >> select All | Under “Range”, let us select “All” as we are converting all the pages in the Draw file to PDF. |
Images >> select “JPEG compression” | Under “Images”, we shall select “JPEG compression”.
This is the most common format that is used for compression. |
PDF options dialog box >> Click “Initial View” | Next, click the Initial View tab. |
Point downwards in the dialog box to the various default settings. | We will keep the default values displayed in the dialog box. |
In PDF options dialog box >> Click “Links”. | Now, click on the Links tab. |
We may have inserted links in the Draw file.
Again, let’s keep the default values set for Links. | |
In PDF options dialog box >> Click “Security” tab. | Now, let’s assign a password to protect the PDF document.

Click Set Open Passwords. | Click on the Set open password button.
|
In the field “Set open Password”, type the password “ProtectAgain0”. | In the field “Password”, type any password with which you want to protect your file.
|
In the field “Confirm”, reenter the password “Protect101”.
Click OK. |
In the field “Confirm”, I will re-type my password “Protect101”.

Next, let’s set the permission password to print or modify the document. | |
Click Set permission password. | Click on the Set permission password button. |
In the field “Permission Password”, type the password “ProtectAgain0”. | In the field “Password”, type the password of your choice.

In the field “Confirm”, reenter the password “ProtectAgain0”.

Point to the permissions for Printing and Changes that are now active (below the Set permission password button). | Notice that permissions for Printing and Changes are active now. |

The PDF can be printed only if the correct password is provided.
Else it cannot be printed. | |
Point to Under Changes >> “Not Permitted”. | Under “Changes” select the option “Not Permitted”.

Click “Export”. | Now, let us click the “Export” button at the bottom. |
The Export dialog box appears. | The Export dialog box appears. |
From the left panel, under Places, click on Desktop. | From the left panel, under Places, click on the location where you want to save your file.

Under File type click PDF - Portable Document Format >> Click on Save. | Under File type, click PDF - Portable Document Format.

The Draw file is converted to a PDF file and saved on the Desktop. | |
Switch to the Desktop | Let us switch to the Desktop now. |

You will notice that the password field is cleared.
