  • Ubuntu Linux OS v22.04
  • Koha v24.05
  • Firefox v131.0.3
  • A working internet connection
To record this tutorial, I am using
  • Ubuntu Linux OS version 22 point 04
  • Koha version 24 point 05
  • Firefox version 131 point 0 point 3

I also have a working internet connection.

Pre-requisites

To follow this tutorial, you should have:
  • Koha installed on your system and
  • Admin access in Koha.

If not, refer to the Koha Installation tutorial on this site.

Also, you should have knowledge of Library Science.

Show Koha login interface Let us switch to the Koha interface.
Login to Koha with Username as Bella and Password as Library@1. For login, I will type the username as Bella and the password as Library@1.

If you had given a different username and password, then type that.

To choose the Library from the drop down select Spoken Tutorial Library.

And Click on Login

Show Koha staff Interface The Koha staff interface opens.
Narration only Now, let’s add a new library group.
Show Koha interface >> Koha Administration For that click on the Koha Administration module.
Highlight Koha Administration

Scroll down,Go to the section Basic parameters

Click on- Library groups

Koha Administration page opens.

Scroll down,Under Basic parameters section click on Library groups.

Library groups page open Library groups page opens.
Click on '+ New group'

Add group a pop-up window

To add a new group, click on the add New group.

A popup window Add group opens.

Point to the red asterisk fields On this page, all the fields in red are mandatory.
Pause and fill in the details

Title: Chemistry

Description: Our specialized materials support research and learning in various chemistry disciplines.

Fill in the Title and Description for the library group, as I have done here.
Point to the Features
  • Limit patron data access by group:
  • Limit item editing by group:
  • Use for OPAC search groups:
  • Use for staff search groups:
  • Is local hold group:
  • Is local float group:
Next we will select the Features of our library group.

Select all the checkboxes as shown here.

Click on Save Next, click on Save at the bottom right of the window.
Cursor on Success message

Group Chemistry created.

This will bring us back to the Library groups page.

The text highlighted in blue at the top says Group Chemistry created.

The table here displays the library group, Chemistry, that we had just created.

Click on Action
  • Add sub group
  • Edit
  • Delete
The last column has two tabs: Actions and Add library.

Let me click on the Actions.

It has the options to Add sub-group, Edit and Delete the library group.

+Add sub-group Here, we will add a sub-group, for that click on the Add sub-group.

A popup window Add group opens.

Pause and fill in the details

Title: Biochemistry

Description: The collection focuses on chemical processes within living organisms.

Fill in the Title and Description for the sub-group library, as I have done here.
Click on Save Now, click on Save button at the bottom right of the page to add the subgroup.
Success message

Group Biochemistry created.

This will load the Library groups page.

The text highlighted in blue, confirms; Group Biochemistry created.

Point to Chemistry >> Biochemistry

Show and hide the subgroup

We can see that sub-group Biochemistry is added under Chemistry library group.
Cursor on Action>Edit/Delete This subgroup can be edited or deleted.

For that go to the last column.

Now click on the Actions button and select the desired option from the dropdown. Take audio from
