Open FreeCAD and go to Draft workbench. | Open FreeCAD and start a new file.
Select Draft workbench. Make sure that Orthographic and top view are selected. |

If the object has multiple faces, we can color the various faces differently.

Then choose the Text and dimensions on top. |

Click on Cancel. | For now I will click on Cancel as I do not want to change them. |
click on the measure distance tool on the View toolbar. | Let us measure the distance between two user chosen points.

Click on a point on the canvas. | Click on your desired first point.

Click on another vertex. | Then I will click on another vertex.
