From the Main menu, select File >> click Properties | To do so, from the Main menu, select File and click on Properties. |
Properties dialog box appears | The Properties dialog box opens. |

All the information that is relevant to the file is listed here. |

Point to the Title, Subject, Keywords and Comments fields |
Next, click on the Description tab.
Here we can enter the Title, Subject, Keywords and Comments as required. This information can be used for later reference. |
Title field >> type 3D Objects Chart | In the Title field, let us type “3D Objects Chart”. |
Subject field >> type 3D Objects Comparisons. | In the Subject field, we will type 3D Objects Comparisons. |
Keywords >>type 3D, 3D Effects. | In Keywords, we will type 3D comma 3D Effects. |
Finally, in the comments field let us enter the comment Learning about File Properties. | Finally, in the Comments field, type Learning about File Properties.
You can type any other relevant information of your choice here, as well. |

Additionally, we may want to set:
Draw has features that help you customize this information. |
Switch to the Draw file.
Properties dialog >> click Custom Properties. Point to the fields Name, Type and Value. |
In the Properties dialog box, click the Custom Properties tab.
Here we see three fields: Name, Type and Value. |
Click the Add button.
Point to the drop down-boxes under each field. |
Let’s click the Add Property button at the bottom right.
We will now see drop down-boxes under each field. |
Click on Name drop-down >> Select Date Completed. | Click on the Name drop-down and select the Date Completed option. |
In the Type drop-down,>> select Date Time. | In the Type drop-down, we will select Date Time. |
Point to the Value field that indicates date and time. | The Value field will now indicate the current date and zero time. |
Point to the date field | Let us not change the date. |
In the Time field, enter 10:30:33. | But in the Time field, we will enter 10:30:33.
Now we can know the date on which the document was prepared and the time. |
Click on Add Property button. | Let us now add another field.
Click on the Add Property button at the bottom right once again. We will see a second row of drop-down boxes. |
The second list of drop-down boxes >> select Checked by in Name, | In the Name drop-down, let us select Checked by option. |
For the Type field >> select Text. | For the Type field, we will select Text. |
In Value >> type the text “Reviewer 1” | In the Value field type the text “Reviewer 1”. |
Click the OK button. | Click the OK button at the bottom right of the dialog box to update the changes. |
Only narration | Next, let’s learn how to delete a property that we created. |
Go to the Main Menu, select File >> click Properties | Go to the Main menu, click on File and select Properties. |
In the Properties dialog box >> click Custom Properties. | In the Properties dialog box, click the Custom Properties tab, if not already selected.
Notice that the rows of properties are alphabetically arranged. |
Point to the property Checked by. | Let us delete the first property Checked by. |
Click the Remove property button on the right. | To do so, click the Remove Property button on the right.
The particular property gets deleted. |
Click OK. | Now, click the OK button at the bottom right. |

Save Multiple Versions |
We can save multiple versions of the same Draw file.
This feature is called Versions. Let’s learn how to do that. |

For example, you may-

Go to the Draw file. | Let us save the file using the Versions option. |
Go to File >> click Versions | From the Main menu, go to File and click Versions. |
New Versions dialog box opens. | A dialog box opens with the file name. |
Click Save New Version | Click on the Save New Version button under the New versions section. |
Insert Version Comment dialog appears
Type Version 1. |
We will see the Insert Version Comment dialog box.
|
Click the OK
Click on Close |
Click the OK button at the bottom right, to close the Insert Version Comment dialog box.
|
Select the text Geometric Shapes in 2D and 3D
Replace it with Geometry in 2D Shapes and 3D Shapes.
|
Now let us change the title text to Geometry in 2D Shapes and 3D Shapes.
|
On Sidebar Deck >> click PROPERTIES >>section >> Font Color drop-down > Blue >> Font size to 24
Click on the X icon to close the sidebar Deck. |
In the Sidebar Deck., click on the Properties icon.
Let’s change the colour of the text to blue and the Font Size to 24.
|
Drag the text box to adjust the size. | Adjust the size of the text box to fit the text. |
Only narration | Now, let us save the file using the Versions option once again. |
From Main menu >> Go to File >> Versions | From the Main menu, go to File and click on Versions. |
Click Save New Version. | In the dialog box, click on the Save New Version button. |
Insert Version Comment dialog appears. | The Insert Version Comment dialog box appears. |
Type Version 2. | Type the comment Version 2.
Click on the OK button in the box |
Point to the box.
Click on the Yes button in the box. |
A message box pops up asking us to confirm the action.
|
Point to the two versions listed. | We see two versions listed under Existing Versions.
|
Point to Version 1 | Version 1 is the file with the black coloured title font. |
Point to Version 2 | Version 2 is the file with the blue coloured title font. |
Select Version 1 >> click Open. | Let us select Version 1 and click on the Open button at the bottom right. |
Point to the title | Version 1 file opens in a new window.
A message appears at the top indicating that the file is open in read-only mode. |
Click on the ‘X’ button. | Let us close the Version 1 file window. |
Only narration | We can enable automatic saving of versions, every time we close a Draw file. |
Main menu >> Go to File >> Click Versions | To do so, click on File and then click on Versions. |
Point to Always save a version on closing

Notice a check-box option that says Always save a version on closing.
|
Click Close. | This will ensure that every time you close the Draw file, a new version will be saved.

Viewing Preferences |
Draw allows us to set different viewing preferences to our file. |
Cursor on the page. | Let us change the view of this file to Grayscale. |
From the Main Menu >> select View >> click Color/Grayscale >> Click Grayscale. | Click on View, go to Color/Grayscale and select Grayscale. |
Point towards the grey objects
Click on the other pages in the Pages pane. |
Immediately, we see all the objects are now displayed in grey colour. |
Only narration | Let’s change the view to Black and White. |
From the Main Menu >> select View >> click Color/Grayscale >> Click Black and White. | Click on View, go to Color/Grayscale and select Black and White. |
Point towards the black and white objects | Now we see all the objects are displayed in black and white. |
From the Main Menu >> select View >> click
Color/Grayscale >> Click Color. |
Let’s switch the view back to colour again, as shown. |
Only narration | The drawing is again displayed in the original colours. |
Point to the box.
Click on the Yes button to save the file. |
Let us save the file.
Again the confirmation box pops up. Click on the Yes button to save the file. |
Click on the ‘X’ icon on the top right | Click on the X button to close the file. |
