00:01 Hello and welcome to the spoken tutorial on Installing Software in Ubuntu Linux 16.04 Operating System.
00:10 In this tutorial, we will learn how to install software in Ubuntu Linux 16.04 Operating System via:

Terminal,

00:21 Synaptic Package Manager and Ubuntu Software Center.
00:27 To record this tutorial, I’m using Ubuntu Linux 16.04 Operating System.
00:34 To proceed with this tutorial, you must be connected to the internet.
00:39 You need to be a System Administrator or have Administrator rights to install software.
00:46 Synaptic Package Manager is a graphical program for a p t.
00:51 It is a GUI for the apt-get command line utility.
00:57 By default, Synaptic Package Manager will not be pre-installed in Ubuntu Linux 16.04.
01:05 So, let us learn how to install it via terminal.
01:10 Open the terminal by pressing Ctrl, Alt and T keys together on your keyboard.
01:18 Now, in the terminal, type: sudo space a p t hyphen get space install space s y n a p

and press the Tab key.

01:34 This will display list of software that starts with s y n a p.
01:40 Now complete the word as synaptic

and press Enter.

01:46 You will be prompted to enter your administrator password.
01:51 Enter your admin password.
01:54 While typing password in the terminal, it will not be visible to us.

So, type it carefully.

02:02 Press Enter.
02:04 Now the terminal displays the list of packages to be installed.
02:09 And, information about the size of the files to be downloaded and disk space after installation.
02:17 Press Y to confirm this.

02:22 The installation begins now. Depending upon your internet speed, this may take some time to finish.
02:31 Now we have successfully installed Synaptic Package Manager.
02:36 Let us close the terminal.
02:39 To confirm the installation, go to Dash home. In the search bar, type synaptic.
02:46 We can see the Synaptic Package Manager icon in the search result.
