00:00 Welcome to the Spoken Tutorial on Design a Visiting card using Inkscape.
00:05 In this tutorial, we will learn:
00:08 Settings for a visiting card
00:10 Designing a visiting card
00:12 Settings to print multiple copies of the visiting card
00:16 To record this tutorial, I am using:

Ubuntu Linux 12.04 OS Inkscape version 0.48.4

00:26 Let us open Inkscape.
00:28 Go to File. Click on Document properties.
00:34 Change the Default units to Inches and the default Orientation to Landscape.
00:41 Let us now start designing the visiting card.
00:45 So, draw a rectangle using the Rectangle tool.
00:49 Click on the Selector tool.
00:51 On the Tool controls bar, change the Width to 3.5 and Height to 2.
01:00 Move it to the top left corner of the canvas.
01:05 Change the color to dark green.
01:08 Let us design a pattern now.
01:10 Select the Bezier tool and draw a wavy line.
01:14 Go to Object menu. Open Fill and Stroke.
01:19 Change the stroke color to yellow.
01:23 Now, draw a straight line below the wavy line.
01:26 Select both the lines. Go to Extensions menu.
01:30 Click on Generate from path and then on Interpolate.
01:35 Check if the Exponent value is 0.
01:38 Change the Interpolation steps value to 30.
01:42 Click on Apply button and then on Close button.
01:46 Notice the Interpolation effect is now applied.
01:50 Let us give some glow effect to the Interpolate design. Select the design.
01:55 Go to Filters menu. Click on Shadows and Glows and then on Glow.
02:02 Observe the glow effect is applied to the design.
02:06 Let us import the Spoken Tutorial logo now.
02:10 I have saved it in my Documents folder.
02:13 The logo has been given to you in the Code files link.
02:17 Go to File and click on Import.
02:23 Resize the logo and keep it on the top left corner.
02:27 Let me copy the visiting card details from a LibreOffice Writer file that I had saved already.
02:34 This file has been given to you in the Codes files link.
02:38 Change the Font size to 12 and the text color to white.
02:43 Select the Spoken Tutorial word.
02:45 Change the font size to 16 and make it bold.
02:50 Now, our visiting card for Spoken Tutorial is ready.
02:55 Next, we will learn to create multiple copies of the visiting card.
02:59 We can do this by cloning method.
03:03 For doing that, we should first group all the elements.
03:06 Press Ctrl + A to select all the elements and Ctrl + G to group them.
03:13 Now, go to the Edit menu.
03:15 Click on Clone and then on Create Tiled Clones.
03:20 The Create Tiled Clones dialog box opens up.
03:23 Under the Symmetry tab, change the number of rows to 4 and columns to 3.
03:30 Now, click on Create button.
03:33 And then close the dialog box.
03:35 Notice that multiple copies of the visiting card appear in the canvas.
03:40 In this way, we can print multiple copies of the visiting card.
03:44 Turn your attention to the visiting card at the top left.
03:48 Click on it and move it from its position.
03:50 Now delete this card as it is an extra copy.
03:54 What if there are some changes to be incorporated?
03:59 Will we have to change each and every copy of the visiting card?
04:02 Not at all. We will have to make the correction only in the original visiting card.
04:07 The same will be reflected in the copies.
04:10 Let's try this. Double-click and change the color of the word Spoken Tutorial to brown on the original card.
04:18 Observe the changes are reflected in all the visiting card copies.
04:24 Now, let us save the file.
04:26 Press Ctrl + S to save the SVG file. I will choose Desktop as the location to save my file.
04:35 And I will type ST-visiting-card as the Filename and click on Save.
04:43 After this, we will save the file in PDF format.
04:48 Once again, go to File and click on Save As.
04:53 Change the extension to PDF and click on Save.
04:57 Change the resolution to 300 and click on OK.
05:01 Let us go to the Desktop.
05:03 Here is the file that we had saved. Let's open it.
05:08 Here are the visiting cards that we created.
05:11 Let us summarize.
05:13 In this tutorial, we learnt about:
