00:02 Welcome the tutorial on View, Print and Export structures in GChemPaint.
00:09 In this tutorial we will learn

00:26 Ubuntu Linux OS version. 12.04
00:30 GChemPaint version 0.12.10
00:35 To follow this tutorial you should be familiar with,
00:40 GChemPaint chemical structure editor.
00:43 If not, for relevant tutorials, please visit our website.
00:48 To open a new GChemPaint application,
00:52 click on Dash home.
00:53 In the Search bar that appears, type GChemPaint.
00:58 click on the GChemPaint icon.
01:01 Let's first open an existing file.
01:05 Click on Open a file icon from the toolbar.
01:09 A window with files and folders opens.
01:12 Select the file named “pentane-ethane” from the list.
01:16 Click on Open button.
01:19 Now first let's learn about View options.
01:23 Go to View menu.
01:25 In the View menu, we have two options Full Screen and Zoom.
01:31 Let's select Zoom option.
01:33 A submenu opens with a list of zoom factors.
01:38 Scroll down the list and select Zoom to %.
01:43 A dialog box with zoom factor (%) opens.
01:47 The default zoom factor(%) value is displayed.
01:51 Here we can increase or decrease the Zoom factor as required
01:57 Click on the up or down arrow triangle and observe the zooming.
02:03 Click on Apply and then click on OK.
02:07 The structure appears with the applied zoom factor.
02:11 Next let's see how to setup a page.
02:15 Go to File menu, navigate to Page Setup and click on it.
02:20 The Page Setup window opens.
02:23 This window contains two tabs - Page and Scale.
02:29 Page tab contains fields like Paper, Center on Page and Orientation.
02:36 In the Paper field, we can set the default paper size.
02:41 Let's click on Change Paper Type button.
02:44 The Page Setup dialog box opens.
02:48 There are 3 options here - Format for, Paper size and Orientation.
02:55 Select your default printer in the Format for field.
03:00 I will select my default printer.
03:03 Paper size field has a drop down list with different paper sizes.
03:09 I will select A4.
03:11 Below this field the dimensions of A4 size are displayed.
03:17 Note that paper size dimensions are displayed for every selected paper size.
03:24 In the orientation field we have 4 radio buttons -
03:29 Portrait,
03:30 Landscape,
03:31 Reverse portrait,
03:32 and Reverse landscape.
03:35 By default Portrait is selected.
03:39 Let's leave as it is and click on Apply.
03:43 Next, we have margin sizes.
03:46 Top margin, Left margin, Right margin and Bottom margin.
03:52 Here,we can adjust the margins as required.
03:56 Next field is Unit.
03:59 Unit field can be set in inches, millimetres and points.
04:05 Note that when we change the Unit, margin sizes automatically change to suit the Unit.
04:14 Let's learn about Center on page.
04:17 Here we have two check boxes Horizontally and Vertically.
04:22 Let's click on Horizontally check box.
04:26 We can see the preview of our structure by clicking on the Preview button.
04:33 Here we can see the Preview.
04:35 Let's close the preview window.
04:38 In the Orientation field we have radio buttons for
04:43 Portrait,
04:44 Landscape,
04:45 Reverse portrait and Reverse landscape
04:49 By default, Portrait is selected.
04:53 Now, let's click on Landscape radio button
04:57 and then click on Preview button.
05:01 Here we can see the preview of Landscape Orientation.
05:06 You can explore the other Orientation options on your own.
05:11 If you click on Print button, the file will be printed with the changes made.
05:17 You can also scale your structure as required before printing.
05:23 For this you can use the various options in the Scale tab.
05:28 Explore Scale tab on your own.
05:32 Let's click on Close button to close the Page Setup window.
05:37 Next, let's learn how to export an image.
05:41 Go to File menu, select “Save as image”.
05:44 “Save as image” dialog box opens.
05:48 File Type field has a list of image options.
05:52 You can export the image as SVG, EPS, PDF, PNG, JPEG and a few others.
06:04 Let's select SVG image.
06:07 Enter file name as “Pentane-ethane”
06:11 click on Save button.
06:13 Here we can see that file is saved as a SVG image.
06:18 Next let's export the image as PDF document.
06:23 Go to File menu, select “Save as image”.
06:27 “Save as image” dialog box opens.
06:31 From File Type , select PDF document.
06:35 Enter the file name as “Pentane-ethane”
06:39 click on Save button.
06:41 Here we can see the file is saved as a PDF document.
