Hello everyone.

Welcome to this tutorial on Privileges of a Registered User on Spoken Tutorial website.

In this tutorial, we will learn about-
  • Suggest a topic
  • Suggest an Example
  • Collaborate with Us and
  • Video for Dubbing

on the Spoken Tutorial web site.

Pre-requisites

To access the Spoken Tutorial website, you should have-
  • A working Internet connection
  • A web browser installed on your machine and
  • Valid Email Id

I will be using the latest version of Firefox web browser for demonstration.

Activities that will be covered

We will consider activities of a registered user, under Creation tab.

For this, you should have registered yourself as a contributor.

Registered User

Registration procedure was covered earlier in another tutorial.


Please refer to the relevant tutorial on the Spoken Tutorial website.

Open browser

In the address bar, type

http

Let us now open the Spoken Tutorial website.

In your web-browser address bar, type http://www.spoken-tutorial.org

and press Enter.

The Spoken Tutorial website opens.

Let us login using our registered user-name and password.
Click on Creation drop down. Now, click on Creation drop-down, in the Main menu at the top.
Click on Suggest a Topic link. In the sub-menu, click on Suggest a Topic link.
Suggest a Topic for a Spoken Tutorial page opens.
Enter Title for Suggested Topic. One can suggest new topics for creating spoken tutorials here.

In Title for Suggested Topic, you can type the name of the suggested topic.

Select difficulty level. In Recommend a Difficulty Level drop-down box, select the difficulty level of the topic.
Select OS. Next, select the operating system from the displayed list.
Hold the Ctrl key to select multiple OS. You can select single/ multiple OS.

Hold the Ctrl key to select multiple OS.

In Brief Description field, type the brief outline for the suggested topic.

This will help the Spoken Tutorial Content Team to understand the topic better.

Select Would you like to suggest an example for this topic? In Would you like to suggest an example for this topic? drop-down, select either Yes or No.
Click on Submit button. Lastly, click on Submit button.
Highlight the message. Your topic suggestion will be submitted.

And you will get a confirmation message.

Now let's see how to suggest an example on Spoken Tutorial website.
Click on Creation drop down. Click on Creation drop down in the Main menu.
Click on Suggest an Example link. In the sub-menu, click on Suggest an Example link.
Move the cursor on the page. Suggest an Example for a Spoken Tutorial page opens.
Enter Title for Suggested Example. Type the example name or title in Title for Suggested Example text box.
Enter Description of Example. Next, give a brief outline or description of the example in Description of Example text box.
I will type this description for demonstration purpose.
Select Would you like to write the script for the above? Select Yes or No from Would you like to write the script for the above? drop down.

Please note, Yes is selected by default.

Select Would you like to be a reviewer for the above? Select Yes or No from Would you like to be a reviewer for the above? drop down.
Click on Submit button. Lastly, click on Submit button.
Highlight the message. Your example suggestion will be submitted.

And you will get a confirmation message.

Now let's see the last activity under Creation tab, which is Collaborate with Us.
Click on Creation drop down. Click on Creation drop down.
Click on Collaborate with Us link. In the sub-menu, click on Collaborate with Us link.
We are happy to collaborate with you page opens.
Enter your Contact Number. In Contact Number field, enter a valid phone no.
Enter Name of Institution. Type the name of your Institute or Organisation in Name of Institution field.
Enter Name of FOSS. Type the name of the FOSS in which you wish to contribute in Name of FOSS field.
Select role. Next, select the appropriate role based on your expertise in the chosen FOSS.
Select Would you like to contribute towards:

Hold the Ctrl key to select multiple options.

Now in Would you like to contribute towards: drop down list, select your preferred activity.


Multiple selections can be made by holding the Ctrl key while selecting.

Select How much time can you devote on a regular basis? Next field is where one can specify the time that one can devote as a contributor or reviewer.


Click on the suitable radio button as per your availability.

Enter your views for List any constraints on availability field. Mention all the constraints you have in List any constraints on availability field.
Select Would you like to be a reviewer for the above field. If you are interested in being a reviewer, as well, then you can do so.
Highlight the field.

Enter if applicable.

If Reviewer, some of your contributions in this FOSS system.


In this field, give the required information so that your expertise can be validated.

Enter your Educational Qualifications. Next, enter your Educational Qualifications.
Enter your Training/Professional Experience. And your Training/Professional Experience.
Point to

Would you like to be a language contributor?

Select Language.

The next two fields are for those who wish to be a language contributor.


That is, to do translation and dubbing of content.

Select Would you like to be a language contributor?

Select Language.

Select your choices accordingly.
You can take the initiative to lead the effort for a particular FOSS or language.
Select Would you like to lead the Spoken Tutorial effort? If so, select Yes in Would you like to lead the Spoken Tutorial effort? drop down.
Click on Submit button. Lastly, click on Submit button.
Highlight the message. You will get confirmation message.

Now let's move on to Videos for Dubbing on Spoken Tutorial website.
Click on Creation drop down. Click on Creation drop down in the Main menu.
Click on Video for Dubbing link. In the sub-menu, click on Video for Dubbinglink.
Index of /english-videos/ page opens.
Scroll down the page and Highlight the list. Here English videos are made available, which are used for dubbing purposes.
Switch to the web-browser
