Video Editing Using Blender

Blender is an opensource, actively developed, cross platform, 3D-multimedia suite with 2D-ability. In Video Editing using Blender series, we will learn to edit videos using Blender. The demonstration includes multi-track audio and video editing, annotation, special effects and rendering. Various Blender features are listed in the official website at, https://www.blender.org/features/ .

Blender has various interfaces, to build objects, edit them and to add animation to them. Sculpting and VFX are two other interfaces of Blender. All the interfaces have extensive tool palette. The animated objects can be edited using the video editing interface of Blender.

The Video Editing interface allows addition a variety of effects used in movie editing. The popular L-cut, speed change, addition of various effects such as wipe effect is also possible. Selected regions can be blurred and animated in a video. Multi-layer multi-track editing is possible in Blender Video Editing interface. The edited movies can be rendered in various formats to create movies. Blender can create proxy video files to aid in editing high definition (HD) videos.

The popular animated movie, Big Bugs Bunny was created as a Blender project. Learners are referred to the Blender official website for more detailed information.

Scientists and researchers also use Blender to build objects and use them in conjunction with scientific software such as OpenFoam. Knowledge of Python scripting is essential for adapting Blender for such advanced use. User forums are available to reach out to Blender users. Learners can ask doubts, questions, report bugs and contribute via forums. Many add-ons are available for Blender. Python scripts can be executed in Blender. Please visit the official site for up-to-date information on this software.
