01:14 QGIS Plugins add useful features to the software.
01:19 They are written by developers and other independent users.
01:24 Plugins option is available on the menu bar on the QGIS interface.
01:30 Plugins have the ability to, insert menu items at various locations on the interface and create new panels and toolbars.
01:42 Here I have opened QGIS interface.
01:46 Click on Plugins on the menu bar.
01:50 From the drop-down, select Manage and Install plugins.
01:55 Plugins dialog-box opens.
01:58 Here you find menus which allow the user to enable/disable, install/uninstall and upgrade plugins.
02:08 You can use the filters on the left panel to find a specific plugin.
02:14 By default All menu is selected.
02:18 Please read the information given on the right-panel.
02:22 Here all the available plugins are listed.
02:25 This includes Core plugins and external plugins.
02:30 Click on the Installed menu from the left panel.

02:38 Click on the check-box or double-click on the name to activate or deactivate the plugin.

02:57 In order to use a Core plugin, we need to enable or activate the plugin.
03:03 Let us locate Processing plugin.
03:06 In the search bar type Processing.
03:10 The name appears below the search bar.

03:16 You will see its details on the right panel.
03:20 Processing plugin is a Core plugin.
03:23 Click on the check-box next to the plugin name, to enable or activate the plugin.

03:33 Processing plugin is now enabled on the menu bar.
03:37 Again open the Plugins dialog-box.
03:41 Clear the search bar and type, Spatial Query.
03:46 The name of the plugin appears below the search bar.
03:50 This plugin is already enabled.
03:54 Click on the name of the plugin.
03:57 This is Core plugin which is installed during QGIS installation.
04:03 Core plugins can only be enabled or disabled.
04:08 They cannot be uninstalled from QGIS.
04:12 Hence the buttons are not highlighted here.
04:16 In the plugin description, the Category is Vector.
04:20 Which means we can find this plugin in the Vector menu once it is enabled.

Close the dialog-box.

04:29 Spatial Query tool is available in the Vector menu and also as tool on the tool bar.
04:37 Let us now install an external plugin.
04:40 Again open Plugins dialog-box.

Clear the search bar.

04:46 Click on Not installed menu from the left panel.

04:56 Let us now install QuickMapServices plugin.
05:00 In the search box at the top of the Plugins dialog-box, type QuickMapServices.
05:07 In the search results below click on QuickMapServices plugin.
05:13 QuickMapServices plugin has a collection of easy to add basemaps.
05:19 Click on Install plugin button at the bottom-right corner.
05:24 Wait for the installation to complete. Close the Plugins dialog-box.
05:30 Click on Web menu on the menu bar.
05:34 You will see the newly installed QuickMapServices plugin in the drop-down.
05:40 Click on QuickMapServices.
05:43 A sub-menu opens with options like Landsat, NASA, OSM, etc.
05:51 OSM is the acronym for Open Street Map.
05:55 From the sub-menu, click on OSM Standard.
05:59 Open Street Map of the world will be loaded on the canvas.
06:05 It represents physical features on the ground for example roads, buildings, etc.
06:13 Scroll the center mouse button to zoom in to Mumbai area.
06:19 Zoom again in the Thane region.
06:23 Click on Current CRS button on the status bar.
06:28 In the CRS selector, check the check-box for Enable On-The-Fly CRS transformation option.
06:36 From the Coordinate Reference system select WGS 84 EPSG 4326.
06:45 Click on OK button to close the box.
06:49 To download the map, click on Vector menu.
06:53 From the drop-down, click on OpenStreetMap option.

From the sub-menu select Download Data.

07:03 Download OpenStreetMap data dialog-box opens.
07:08 Extent from map canvas is selected by default.

Leave it as such.

07:15 Click on the button with 3 dots next to Output file field.
07:20 A dialog-box opens, type the filename as Thane.osm .
07:28 Select a suitable location.
07:31 I will select Desktop. Click on Save button.
07:36 In the Download OpenStreetMap data dialog-box, click on OK button.
07:42 On the status bar you can see the progress of the download and file size.
07:49 After the download is complete, successful download message will be displayed.

Click on OK button.

07:58 Close Download OpenStreet Map dialog-box.
08:02 The OSM file you have downloaded is only a data file.
08:07 To convert this data into a shapefile, you need a plugin called QuickOSM.
08:14 This plugin will help import OSM data into QGIS.
08:20 Back on the QGIS interface.
08:23 Click on the plugins menu.
08:26 Select Manage and Install Plugins. Plugins window opens.
08:33 In the search box under Not installed menu type QuickOSM.
08:39 In the search results below, click on QuickOSM.
08:44 Click on Install plugin button at the bottom- right corner to install it.
08:50 Wait for the installation to complete.

Click on Close button.

08:57 Click on Vector menu on the menu bar.
09:01 Click on QuickOSM.

From the sub-menu, click on QuickOSM.

09:09 QuickOSM dialog-box opens.
09:13 Click on OSM file option from the left panel.
09:17 In OSM file, click on browse and navigate to the Thane.osm file.

Click on Open button.

09:27 Click on check boxes for Points, Lines, Multilinestrings, Multipolygons if not already checked.
09:37 In QuickOSM dialog-box, click on Open button.
09:42 The process may take some time.
09:45 When the process is complete the status bar shows 100 percent.
09:50 Close the QuickOSM dialog-box.
09:54 OSM data is loaded on canvas.
09:58 Notice that layers are added in the Layers Panel.
10:03 Now we will create three dimensional visualization of vector layers.
10:09 Click on the menu item Plugins.
10:12 Select Manage and Install Plugins.

Plugins window opens.

10:19 In the search box at the top of the Plugins dialog-box, type Qgis2threejs.
10:26 Click on Qgis2threejs.
10:30 In the right panel, description of Qgis2threejs is given.
10:36 Click on Install plugin button in the bottom right corner to install it.
10:42 Wait for the installation to complete.

Click on Close button.

10:48 Qgis2threejs Plugin tool can be seen on the toolbar.
10:54 The plugin can also be found under Web menu on the menu bar.
10:59 In the Layers Panel, hide the Point, Lines and Multilinestrings layers.
11:06 Uncheck the check-boxes next to Lines, Points, Multilinestrings layers.
11:14 Only Multipolygons layer in visible on canvas.
11:19 Click on Qgis2threejs from toolbar.
11:24 Qgis2threejs dialog box opens.
11:29 In the dialog-box, click the check-box next to OSMFile in the Polygon section.
11:36 Click on Browse button next to Output HTML file path text box.
11:42 Output filename dialog-box opens.

Let us name the file as Buildings.

11:50 Select a suitable location to save the file.
11:54 I will choose Desktop.
11:57 Click on Save button at the bottom-right corner of the dialog-box.
12:03 In the Qgis2threejs dialog box, file path appears in the text box.

Click on Run button.

12:13 Wait till the process is complete, as shown on the status bar at the bottom.
12:19 Buildings html file opens in a new browser window.
12:24 Zoom in to see three dimensional buildings.
12:29 Back on the QGIS canvas.
12:33 Open Plugins dialog-box again.
12:36 Click on Settings menu from the left panel.
12:40 Under this menu you can use the following options.

1. Check for updates, 2. Show also experimental plugins, 3. Show also deprecated plugins.

12:52 Here we also have buttons to add external author repositories.

Close the dialog-box.
