00:11 create a Patron,
00:14 create a Superlibrarian and
00:17 give access to a Staff for a particular module.
00:22 To record this tutorial, I am using:

Ubuntu Linux OS 16.04 and Koha version 16.05.

00:34 To follow this tutorial, learners should have knowledge of Library Science.
00:40 To practice this tutorial, you should have Koha installed on your system.
00:46 And, You should also have Admin access in Koha.
00:51 Please refer to the Koha spoken tutorial series on this website for more details.
00:58 Let us begin by learning how to add a Patron category.
01:03 Log in to Koha using your database administrator username and password.
01:11 Click on Koha Administration.
01:15 Under Patrons and circulation, click on Patron categories.
01:21 A new page Patron categories opens.
01:25 Click on New Category.
01:28 A new page, New category opens up, prompting us to fill in some details.
01:35 As mentioned before, note that the fields marked in red are mandatory.
01:41 I have filled out a few details here. Please do so likewise.
01:47 For Category type: from the drop-down list, select Staff.
01:53 For Branches limitation: select All Branches.
01:58 Next, click on Save at the bottom of the page.
02:03 The category name that we entered, appears on the page Patron categories.
02:09 In my case, it says Library Staff.
02:13 With this, a Patron Category has been created.
02:17 Next, we will learn how to add a Patron.
02:21 Click on Home at the top left corner.
02:25 The Koha homepage opens with a dialog box prompting us to Create a Patron.
02:32 It is mandatory to create a Patron. Otherwise in database administrator role, some parts of Koha will not function.
02:42 As prompted in the dialog- box, click on Create Patron.
02:48 Alternately, you may click on Patrons on the Koha home page.
02:54 I will click on Create Patron.
02:58 A new page opens. Click on the tab New Patron.
03:04 From the drop-down, I will select Library Staff.
03:09 A new page- Add patron (Library Staff), opens up.
03:14 Now, fill in the details required under the various sections like:

Patron identity,

Main address,

Contact etc.

03:26 I have filled out few details as shown here.
03:31 If you don’t have information for any field listed here, then just leave it blank.
03:38 Pause the video and fill in all details and then resume the video.
03:44 Under the section Library management, locate the field Card Number.
03:51 Note that the number 1 is auto-generated by Koha.
03:56 Hence, you will see a different number on your Koha interface.
04:02 Next is Library.
04:05 From the drop-down, I will select Spoken Tutorial Library.
04:10 Recall: the Spoken Tutorial Library was created earlier in this series.

04:22 For Category, I will select Library Staff from the drop-down.
04:27 Under the section OPAC/Staff login, enter Username and Password.
04:34 Each new user should create a new Username and Password.

04:43 Password as library.
04:46 Again, enter the same password in Confirm password: field.
04:52 Remember this username and password.
04:56 This will be used a little later to give rights/permissions to a Staff.
05:02 After filling in all the details, go to the top of the page and click on Save.
05:09 A new page with the name of the Patron and card number opens.
05:15 In this case, as entered earlier, the page has Patron as Ms Bella Tony with card number 1.
