Systems Requirements

k3b 2.0.2
Ubuntu Linux version 12.04
Ensure that a CD is inserted into the drive.
||Here, we are using k3b 2.0.2 on Ubuntu Linux 12.04.

You need to ensure that you have inserted a CD/DVD into the drive for this tutorial.

|Switch to the Ubuntu Desktop and point to the folder Myk3bCD.

Open this folder
||I have also added an audio file to my folder Myk3bCD.

We had created and saved this folder on the Ubuntu Desktop earlier.

|Point to the file Learningk3b
||I have added an audio file Learningk3b to this folder.

You can use any audio file of your choice.

|First, click Dash Home, which is the round button, on the top left corner of your computer desktop.

|Now type k3b.

||Let us create and burn a CD using k3b.

|Click on New Project.
From the drop-down that appears select New Data Project.
||For this, click on New Project icon.

|Select the Home folder on the top left panel.
Point to the files and folders on the top right panel.
||Select the Home folder on the top left panel.
Now, we can see the files and folders in the Home folder.

|Next click on Desktop.

||You can choose whichever folder or file you have on your machine.

|Click on the folder Myk3bCD.
||For this demo, I will select the folder Myk3bCD.

|Right-click on Myk3bCD.
||So I will right-click on Myk3bCD folder.

|Select on Add to Project option.
||And select Add to Project option.

|Point to the file In the bottom panel.
||Now you can see the selected folder in the bottom panel.

||Next, let us create a folder on the CD and move the Myk3bCD folder to it.

|Right-click on the bottom left panel.
||Right-click on the bottom left panel.

|Select New Folder option.
||From the list of options that appear, select New Folder.

|Point to the dialog box.
||We can see a dialog box.

|Type FolderOne in the text box.

Click OK.
||Type a FolderOne in the text box.

Click OK.

|From the bottom panel, select Myk3bCD.
Next select the file Writer1.
||From the bottom panel, select Myk3bCD.
Next select the file Writer1.

|Drag and drop the file Writer1 to FolderOne.
||Drag and drop the selected file Writer1 to FolderOne.

|Click on Writer1 in the bottom left pane.

||To check if the file Writer1 has been copied, let us click on FolderOne.

|Point to the bottom right pane.
||Here, we can see the file Writer1.

|Now, From the bottom panel, click on the Burn icon.
||Now, From the bottom panel, click on the Burn icon.

|Point to the Data Project – k3b window.
||The Data Project – k3b window appears.

|Point to the Data Project – k3b window.
||Next, let’s change the settings in this Data Project – k3b window.

|Select Writing tab >> under Writing Mode >> select Auto .
||Select Writing tab and here, under Writing Mode we will select Auto.
Notice, that Auto is the default setting.

|Select File system tab.

Point to Window+Linux under File System.
||Now, let us select Filesystem tab.

It is set as Linux/Unix+Windows by default.

So, there is no need to make any changes here.

|Select Misc tab.

Select Multisession mode.
||Now, let us go to Misc tab

and here under Multisession select Auto.

|Select Burn.
||Now, select Burn to burn the data to the CD.

Point to the processing status bar in the window.
||The burning process begins.

Here, we can see the progress status bar in the window.

||Once the burning is complete, the CD ejects automatically.
The files are now copied on to the CD.
This is the end of the burning process.

||Let us burn and save audio files on another CD.

||First ensure that a new CD is inserted and the drive is closed.

|Click New Project.
Select New Audio CD Project.
||As before, go to New Project and select New Audio CD Project.

|Browse to the Myk3bCD folder on the top left pane.
||Here, browse to the Myk3bCD folder from the top left panel.

|Select the audio file Learningk3b in the top right panel.
||Now, lets us select the audio file Learningk3b in the top right panel.

|Drag and drop the <<audio file>> onto the bottom pane.
||Next, drag and drop the audio file onto the bottom right panel.

|Point to the file details in the bottom pane.
||Let’s check if we have dragged and dropped the correct file.

You can check the file details here, in the bottom panel.

|Point to the artist, title and file name.
||For this file, we can see that the Artist, Title and File name are displayed.

||Now, let us learn how to burn this audio.

|For this, on the Main toolbar, click Save.
||For this, from the Main toolbar, click Save.

|Point to the Save As – k3b window.
||We can see the Save As – k3b window.

||Here, type a name for your project in the text box.

|Type MyWork in the text box.
Click Save.
||I will type MyWork.
Now, click Save.

|Click Burn.
||Now, click Burn.

|Point to the Audio Project – k3b window.
||It opens Audio Project – k3b window.
Here, we shall use the default tab settings.

||However, you can make changes in the tabs, as per your requirements.

|Click Burn.
||Now, again click Burn.

|Point to the processing status window.
||We can see the progress status window.

And the CD ejects after burning finishes.

||This means that saving and burning the audio file is completed.
