|| In this tutorial, we are using Firefox version 7.0 on Ubuntu 10.04&lt;br /&gt;

|| Preferences within Mozilla Firefox allows us to perform repetitive tasks with ease. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
For Windows users, this feature is called Options.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
Click on Edit &amp;gt;&amp;gt; Preferences.&lt;br /&gt;
|| Say for example, we want to set our email login page as our home page.&lt;br /&gt;

So we will click on Edit and Preferences.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Windows users should click on Tools and Options.&lt;br /&gt;

|| Point to the dialog box.&lt;br /&gt;
|| The Preferences or Options dialog box opens.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

|| Drag the cursor over the various tabs.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
|| At the top of the dialog box, there are a number of tabs. &lt;br /&gt;
Each one has a different function.&lt;br /&gt;

|| Click on the General tab &amp;gt;&amp;gt; Drag the cursor over the various options.&lt;br /&gt;

Point to HomePage field and Save files to field.&lt;br /&gt;

|| The General panel contains preferences related to the most commonly used settings, such as :&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
setting Firefox home page.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
setting file download location.&lt;br /&gt;

|| &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

In the General tab &amp;gt;&amp;gt; Point to Startup &amp;gt;&amp;gt; Point to When Firefox starts &amp;gt;&amp;gt; click on the drop down menu &amp;gt;&amp;gt; select ‘Show my home page’&lt;br /&gt;
|| Let us learn how to set Gmail as our default home page.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Under Startup, in the ‘When Firefox starts’ drop down menu, select ‘Show my home page’.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

|| Point to ‘Mozilla Firefox Start Page’ in the ‘Home page’ field.&lt;br /&gt;

Click on the ‘Home Page’ field and&lt;br /&gt;

Open a new Firefox browser again.&lt;br /&gt;

|| The Privacy panel contains preferences related to your web-privacy. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

|| Under Tracking &amp;gt;&amp;gt; put a check on ‘Tell web sites I do not want to be tracked’&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
|| Under Tracking,  lets put a check on ‘Tell web sites I do not want to be tracked’.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Selecting this option will stop websites from storing information about your browsing behavior.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
|-&lt;br /&gt;
|| Under History, drag the cursor over the various options. &lt;br /&gt;
|| Under History, there are many options. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
|-&lt;br /&gt;
|| In the ‘Firefox will’ field &amp;gt;&amp;gt; choose ‘Never remember history’.&lt;br /&gt;
|| In the ‘Firefox will’ field, choose ‘Never remember history’.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Enabling this option means that the history of your browsing will be not be retained in your computer.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

|| Point to ‘Clear all current history’ but don’t click.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
|| If we click on ‘Clear all current history’,&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
then all the browsing history stored on the your computer will be cleared.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

|| Point to the Location Bar.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In the ‘When using the location bar, suggest:’ field, open the drop down and select ‘Nothing’&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
|| Coming down to the Location Bar.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In the ‘When using the location bar, suggest:’ field, we will click on the drop down menu and select ‘Nothing’.&lt;br /&gt;

On doing so, whenever you are enter a new URL in the address bar, you will not be prompted with suggestions.&lt;br /&gt;

It has Browsing and System Default settings to control the behavior of Firefox.&lt;br /&gt;

|| Click on Network tab.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
Point to Connections &amp;gt;&amp;gt; click on Settings button.&lt;br /&gt;
|| We can also configure the way Firefox connects to the Internet using the Network option.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Within the Network tab, under Connections, click on the Settings button.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
|-&lt;br /&gt;
|| Point to the Connection Settings dialog box. &lt;br /&gt;
|| This opens up the Connection Settings dialog box. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;

|| Point to the Proxies option.&lt;br /&gt;
|| Here you can configure the Proxies. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Proxies are used to improve performance and provide better security. &lt;br /&gt;
