||Login with your credentials.
||Please login to wiki using your credentials at http://enhanceedu.iiit.ac.in/mediawiki_sandbox. We are right now on the Main page.
|-
||Show the link to the user page. (account name next to the user icon on the top right hand side of the page.)
||<!--You can edit your 'user page' by clicking on your user name in the top right hand side of the page next to the User icon. If there is no data added to the User page, the link is displayed in red color. Otherwise it is displayed in blue color.

When visiting the User page for the first time. It shows the following "There is currently no text in this page. You can search for this page title in other pages, search the related logs, or edit this page. "

You can select "edit this page" or create tab to start editing this page. -->

Go to your user page

|-
||Show the edit box.
||Lets say you want to create your profile page in MediaWiki. Any profile page will have different sections like Personal Information, Education details, Experience and Hobbies. Lets see how we can create each of them as headings. Lets assign level 1 header to your name. To create your name as first level heading, enclose your name with single '''equal to''' on both sides. Scroll down and click save page button. You can see your name with big font.
|-
||Show the edit box.
||Click on the edit tab again. Now, let us apply level 2 headings to Personal Information, Education details, Experience and Hobbies. Enclose each of the above text with 2 '''equal to''' on both sides. You can increase the level of heading of the page by increasing the number of 'equal to' sign on both sides of the heading text. With each increase of level of heading, font size of the heading text will be decreased. Lets apply level 3 heading to contact details. Enclose contact details with 3 '''equal to''' on both sides.
|-
||Scroll down and click save page button.
||Scroll down and click save page button. You can see a table of content generated. Table of contents will automatically appear on a wiki page that use 4 or more headings. But, you can force table of contents on your wiki page by typing <nowiki>__FORCETOC__</nowiki> even if it has less than 4 headings.

you can type this command anywhere in the wiki page
|-
||Point to hide button in Table of Contents box.
||You can see '''hide''' link on the right hand side of the table of contents box. Click on that link. Table of content will be collapsed.
|-
||Click on any heading in the table
||Please Click on any heading in the table of contents. You can go directly to that section of that wiki page. Suppose, you want to view the contact details, click on contact details. You will be redirected to contact details.
|-
||Point to edit link beside header
||For every heading of the section, there is an option for editing at the right hand side corner. If you click on that edit link, that section of the text under that heading only will be available for editing. If you want add phone number to contact details, click on edit button that is visible at the right hand side corner. You can see the Contact details header. You can add your phone number.

This will make it simpler to edit content on a large page.
|-
||Show the edit box
||Click on the edit tab again. Lets see how to disable table of contents. If you want to disable table of contents, just type the command anywhere in the page:

Welcome to tutorial on 'Generating Table of Contents'. In this video, we will discuss about

# Headings
# Create Headings
# Table of Contents
# Usage of Table of Contents
# Disabling Table of Contents
# Disabling Edit Section

== Headings ==

Headings are short phrases that introduce the beginning of a section by describing that section.

Headings are a means of structuring the content of a web page. Headings imply an outline structure on a page.

Headings are used to divide a page into sections and communicate the content of each section to users.

headings are displayed using a larger size of the default font. There are six levels of heading, each using a slightly smaller font size.

== Assigning Headings ==

To create a first level heading, type

<nowiki>
= first level heading =
</nowiki>

To create a second level heading, type

<nowiki>
== second level heading ==
</nowiki>

You can increase the level of heading of the paging by increasing the number of 'equal to' sign on both sides of the heading text. With each increase of level of heading, font size of the heading text will be decreased.

The maximum number of heading levels is 6.

<nowiki>=== third level heading ===</nowiki>

<nowiki>==== fourth level heading ====</nowiki>

<nowiki>===== fifth level heading =====</nowiki>

<nowiki>====== sixth level heading ======</nowiki>

=== Example: ===

Suppose, you want to create a course content of Java in Mediawiki. There will be an Introduction, pre-requisites for learning the course, Modules list and Resources/References. Java is the course name aThe headings for the course structure will come as

<nowiki>= Java =</nowiki>

<nowiki>== Introduction ==</nowiki>

<nowiki>== Pre-requisites ==</nowiki>

<nowiki>== Modules list ==</nowiki>

<nowiki>=== Identifiers, Keywords and Types ===</nowiki>

<nowiki>=== OOPS 1 ===</nowiki>

<nowiki>=== OOPS 2 ===</nowiki>

<nowiki>=== Expressions and Flow Control ===</nowiki>

<nowiki>== Resources/References ==</nowiki>

== Generating Table of Contents ==

Table of contents will automatically appear on pages that use 4 or more headings. But, you can force table of contents on your wiki page by typing the following even if it has less than 4 headings:

<nowiki>__FORCETOC__</nowiki>

Example:

Suppose, for the Java content page you created, as of now, you are not ready with the module list and you want to remove it from the page. But, you want Table of Contents to appear on the page. Then, please type

<nowiki>__FORCETOC__</nowiki> anywhere in the wiki page. This will force table of contents to appear on the wiki page.

== Using Table of Contents ==

In the table of contents box, there will be '''hide''' link on the right hand side. If you want to hide the table of contents, click on the hide link.

By clicking on the heading in the table of contents, you can go directly to that section of that wiki page. Suppose, you want to view the modules list of the Java programming language, click on the module list. You will be redirected to Module list of the Java programming language.

For every heading of the section, there is an option for editing at the right hand side corner. If you click on that edit link, that section of the text under that heading only will be available for editing. If you want add some more modules to module list, click on edit button that is visible at the right hand side corner. You can see the list of available modules. You can add some more to that list.

This will make it simpler to edit content on a large page.

== Disabling Table of Contents ==

If you don't want to see Table of Contents, you can disable the table of contents on your wiki page by typing the following anywhere on the wiki page:

<nowiki>__NOTOC__</nowiki>

== Customizing Table of Contents ==

You can customize where the table of contents appear on the page by typing the following:

<nowiki>__TOC__</nowiki>

This will override <nowiki>__NOTOC__</nowiki> even if it is there anywhere on the wiki page.

== Disabling Edit Section ==

You can disable section edit links that allow you to edit one part of the page at a time, type the following anywhere on the page:

<nowiki>__NOEDITSECTION__</nowiki>
