0:00 Welcome to this spoken tutorial on Themes in Mozilla Firefox.
0:05 In this tutorial, we will learn about: Themes, Personas, Ad blocking in Mozilla Firefox.
0:13 Mozilla Firefox offers customisation to suit the tastes or preferences of the user.
0:20 One of the customisation is Themes.
0:23 A theme Changes how Firefox looks.
0:27 Changes the background colors, the look of the buttons and the layout.
0:32 In this tutorial, we are using Firefox version 7.0 on Ubuntu 10.04
0:40 Let us open a Firefox browser.
0:43 Let us first learn how to change the Theme of Mozilla Firefox.
0:48 First, let’s enable the Load images automatically option, so that we can view the images displayed in the browser.
0:58 From the Menu bar, click on Edit and then Preferences.
1:03 In the Preferences dialog box, choose the Content tab.
1:08 Check the Load images automatically box.
1:12 Click Close.
1:14 Now, click on the URL bar and type

1:27 This takes us to the Themes page for Mozilla Firefox Add-ons.
1:32 We see a large number of themes here as thumbnails.
1:37 The thumbnails show you how the themes would appear.
1:41 Here you can preview the theme,
1:43 see the categories of themes available and
1:46 see the ratings given by other users who have used the theme.
1:52 Let us hover our mouse pointer over some themes.<Pause>
1:57 Now, click on the theme Shine Bright Skin.
2:01 This is one of many themes available on this page.
2:05 The Shine Bright Skin theme page appears.
2:09 Click on the Continue to Download button.
2:12 This takes you to a page which gives additional details about the the theme.
2:17 Click on the Add to Firefox button to install the theme.
2:22 The Add-on downloading progress bar appears.
2:27 Next a Software Installation confirmation message appears.
2:32 Click Install Now.
2:34 A message that the theme will be installed once you restart Firefox is displayed.
2:40 Click Restart Now.
2:43 Mozilla Firefox shuts down.
2:46 When it restarts, the new themes is applied.
2:51 Let’s go back to our Themes page.
2:54 Now let us choose another theme.
2:57 This theme displays Add to Firefox button.
3:01 This will download the chosen theme.
3:05 Once the download is complete, a warning message window appears.
3:10 Click on the Install Now button.
3:13 You will be prompted to restart the Firefox browser.
3:16 Click on Restart now button.
3:19 Mozilla Firefox shuts down.
3:22 When it restarts, the new themes are applied.
3:27 So you see, Themes help to improve the look and feel of the browser.

3:36 If, for some reason, you wish to go back to the default theme,

5:09 A Notification bar will appear at the top to alert you that a new theme is installed.
5:16 Click on the small “x” mark on the right of the Notification bar.
5:21 Firefox installs this Persona automatically.
5:28 * Often ads interfere with our internet experience.
5:32 But there are specialized software that help to block ads.
5:36 One such add-on is Adblock.
5:39 Click on Tools and then on Add-ons.
5:43 In the search tab, at the top-right corner, search for Adblock.

Press Enter.

5:51 A list of Ad blocking software is displayed.
5:55 Click on the Install button for Adblock Plus.
5:59 Adblock starts downloading
6:02 That's it! Ad blocker is now installed.
6:06 A notification message will be displayed which says, “Adblock will be installed after you restart Firefox”.
6:14 Click on the Restart now link.
6:17 Mozilla Firefox will shut down and restart.
6:21 When it restarts, the ad blocker will take effect.
6:25 However, using ad blockers have some negative consequences.
6:30 * Some sites do not allow you to enter them when ad blocker is on.
6:35 * This is because, many free sites earn their income from ads.
6:41 * Adblocker may prevent some sites from being displayed on your browser.
6:46 * This factor has to be considered carefully when blocking ads.
